Along with dealing with a really, really bad virus (H1N1? Only my lab technician knows for sure...), I've been busy this week finishing up a fairly lengthy piece on sprint car marketing. I tried to get the opinion of some people who know motorsports marketing but could give something of an "outsiders" perspective on the challenges and opportunities ahead for sprint car racing.
Take a read and let me know your feedback.

I didn't address it too much in the article - since I wanted to keep "myself" out of it - but I think we're moving towards more of an emphasis on larger local series and smaller national series. If you look at USAC in general, it's hard to argue that they truly have "National" series - really a Midwest driven series with some dates elsewhere to bookend the season.
If you told me that in 10-15 years, the World of Outlaws would cut its dates in half and primarily focus on putting on/sanctioning larger races at established tracks, that wouldn't shock me, especially if enough regional series can exist in its place. As a driver, why travel with the Outlaws to race for 10th place when you can jump into something like the All Stars or (especially) the ASCS and be a contender while limiting your travel budget.
