Mike Roberts just called and asked me to post this.

The family is attempting to raise money to cover Yarddog's funeral expenses.

All donations can be made in the name of Michael DeGoey, and sent to Winfield-Evans-McCleary Funeral Home, 202 East Washington, Knoxville, IA 50138

Credit Cards are accepted by phone, (641) 842-5126. Ask for Leroy Winfield.

Email information is available at http://www.winfieldfh.com

People can also contact Mike Roberts at (641) 218-6000

How much are they looking to raise?

I don't have that number, but enough to cover the funeral expenses.

Just a small no-frills burial is around 10,000. So they will need all the help we can get. I would like to share a few memories of Mike. How will we be able to have the 2010 Nationals without him?? How many times in the pits have you ever heard someone yell.... "Hey, YardDog!!" We will never hear that again. And can anyone ever forget the site of "theDog" at the Front Row challenge in his grass skirt?!? And we have all been flashed that YardDog jelly belly at one time haven't we?!?! We have lost a Knoxville icon....really we have especially at the racetrack.

He also leaves two precious little girls. Lets try to remember them as well.

Dog helped everyone that ever ask him for anything. It is now our time to step up to the plate and show his family how much we all loved the Yarddog. Many of us will miss that loveable big bear of a man. I could even throw a challenge out to all of the drivers at Knoxville....every race benefit I've ever been to, the Dog was always there as well.....

You might have the family check into county assistance with the funeral....I know here in Jasper County if a family qualifies for assistance they get $1700.00..

Just wondering if enough donations came in to pay for all of the funeral expenses?

RIP Yarddog! You will never be forgotten!

Yarddog left behind a 13 yr old step daughter and a set of boy girl twins and a girlfriend that most people forget to mention about!
