I've been driving Sprint cars for over 15 years and have never raced at a track in California or anywhere else that so strictly enforced Db levels. Out of curiosity, what type of muffler would one run to ensure a 360 stayed below the required noise level. I know of several different types of mufflers that are available, but have never needed to purchase anything other than the Knoxville style for my own car. Thanks.

check out the kaeding performance or BR Motorsports on line catalogs. there are a few different mufflers. i think flowmaster and spintrap make some of them.

The issue in Cali is most tracks are located at the local farigrounds, which is in city limits (right next to neighborhoods & business districts). We are lucky to have the tracks we have left.

I've got it all figured out:
All you need to do is change the fuel and that will take care of the California sprint car noise problem.
How?
By simply eliminating methanol and replacing it with marijuana.
When it burns no one within sound distance will care about how quiet or loud your car is.
Note that with the amount of fuel a sprint car burns, you will most likely need a very large 'fuel' filter to accommodate this change.
Of course, this noise polution solution will only work in states where it's legal to burn marijuana.
Furthermore, since noise can be considered pollution...and that's the whole point of this subject, then it can therefore be classified as a medical condition, thus, necessitating the change in fuel.

leadfoot23,always nice to see a real racer go the distance to race, your a dying breed...I think your required to run a 95 decimal muffler at Tulare....if you go to Ventura -a 90 ...perris is a 90 also....make a swing down to Victorville for the Turkey Classic open comp-it's 'Run what you brung'

we could just run straight moonshine. it might not help the noise but it would save on beer as there would be plenty of drinking alchohol after the races. besides i think more than a few drivers would "pipe" the exhaust into their helmets if we ran weed.

Well, I hope you guys took my post yesterday as me agreeing with you that, all things considered, it's rediculous some of the subjective regulations the state government can impose in one area vs. another.
And the fact that the track has sat dormant for months, you'd think the local government would welcome the influx of revenue brought to the area - not to mention the massive fundraising effort it spearheads...and let some of these 'regulations' slide a bit for 2 days.
