Most of you are probably not familiar with JSJJ Speedway, but it is a Kart track in Elgin, OK just outside of Lawton. I know nothing about this, but what I have read on there forum and webpage, but I just happen to be browsing around and found it and thought I would pass it on to tidbiters.

"A very SERIOUS accident occured after last weeks racing action and as such, the owner, Jeff Kay, was severely burned over 90% of his body - the majority of the burns are 3rd degree to his upper torso. Jeff is currently hospitalized OKC Baptist Medical.

Jeff is in critical condition at this moment but is slowly improving as of the 28 Sept report from Sherry Kay.

With this unfortunate accident taking all of the Kay family's time and energy, JSJJ Speedway is cancelling the remainder of the 2009 Season. We will make plans on racing in 2010 sometime after the first of the year and will post those plans on the website.

The family asks that you please understand their reasoning for cancelling the racing season and they will provide updates to Jeff's condition as they are known. Please keep Jeff and the Kay family in your prayers - Thank you!"

Our thoughts and prayers are with them.

Michael

Jeff is being weaned from his pain meds and being allowed to ‘wake up alittle’. He is still having some trouble breathing on his own so he’s still on a machine to help. Dr.’s have increased the pressure to his lungs so that when he takes a breath, it forces more air to the lungs. Xrays of his lungs are slightly better today. Sherry said he’s doing alittle better today although he had a rough night last night.
