Farr Fills His Brian Healey Cup With $5000
Posted Sunday, 18 October 2009 by TPCR PR

Superstar Robbie Farr and Mr Magic Max Dumesny gave the big crowd a race to remember when they raced elbows up in the Brian Healey Cup at Tyrepower PCR tonight.

It was a classic 30 lapper between the two greats of the game with Farr scorching into the lead from the font row in the East Coast Pipe Line #7 machine with Valvoline Max and sibling Mitchell in hot pursuit.

Joining the battle was Craig Brady in the Pick and Payless #2 and not a soul moved in their seats because this was pure joy to witness.

When they hit traffic Max edged to the rear of Farr and then passed him only to have the caution lights go on when Roddy Bell Bowen flipped on the second turn bringing to an end a stellar night behind the wheel.

Farr led off again from Max as Mitchell and Brady swapped third place lap after lap.

And so it went for the next 20 laps Farr shooting to a good lead on each restart only to have Max come a tapping when they hit lapped traffic.

When Daryl Campbell looped near the end the field was re-formed with two laps to go and Farr hit his marks and could not be denied.

Max finished three car lengths behind with Mitchell just getting the nod over Craig Brady with the fast finishing 'Gas Girl' Kelly Linigen fifth.

Stewart Williams, the night’s fastest qualifier stayed out of trouble to finish sixth, Adrian Maher, Danny Reidy, Ian Loudoun and Grant Anderson rounded out a quality top ten.

Robbie, Max and Mitchell were warmly welcomed by the big crowd to the victory lane presentation area on the finishing straight and the three drivers paid special tribute to Brian Healey.

His son Byron and grandson Will were moved by the genuine warmth of the drivers and spectators.

The supporting speedcars were outstanding with Nathan Smee the bravest of them all as he powered three wide around the pack in the 15 lap main event and drew Troy Jordan, Mark Brown, Anthony Brien and Troy Jenkins into what was nothing but a dog fight.

Smee reeled off the 15 laps and smashed Troy Jenkins mark by a staggering 17 seconds.

The record, it must be said, had stood for 15 years so it was ripe for the picking.

Smee was aggressive while Farr, Max, Mitch and Craig were simply awesome.
