how many more close games can this team possibly lose?

Our defense played a helluva game. But our offense is terrible. So terrible that I can't see this being the last game OU loses. Our entire offensive scheme has failed completely - Kevin Wilson is very lucky that our defense is playing balls to the wall and keeping us in these games.......the outcry would be a whole lot louder. Even still - it's been to be loud now - and rightfully so.

Muschamp knew what we were doing before we did. It's not Landry Jones fault that all in 1 play Texas can have 2 linemen in the backfield instantly while at the same time double covering receivers. Against any respectable defense - our offensive scheme is stagnant and prone to failure.

But I guess it's easy to overlook when our defense plays as good as it has all year. The D has given up a big play/drive here and there. But they have answered calls when all the odds were against it. They cover the failure of the offense possession after possession.

Blame has mostly gone to failed blocking assignments and dropped passes........but even if it is a personnel issue - thats on the coaches too. If we don't have the personnel to run a Texas Tech style offense (which we clearly don't) - then we shouldn't. We have 2 good running backs - and we obviously can't run them with 4 receivers out wide - then they get hit before they even get the ball. We don't have the O-line to run the ball out of the shotgun/pistol formations like we did last year. Maybe we should drop all the flares and just line up Ace backfield with 7 down linemen. Just chop away at it. ok well thats easy for me to say....

But the one thing that is clearly obvious - is that the scheme we had last year has failed completely this year. To run this texas tech style offense - you have to do the 2 things we are really bad at it - run good routes and block. especially block. if we don't have the line to do it - stop spreading the field and run it down their throats. We're already at 3 losses - why not go ahead and try something different? An ugly 9-3 or 8-4 record is better than a sexy 7-5.

Still have to go to Kansas, Texas Tech & A&M, not out of the possibility to go 6-6 with no offensive.

I disagree, with you a little, yeah the offense isnt as good as last year, But look what we lost on that side of the ball. And to say the defense is great, this is the first game agianst good competion that the defense has played with any heart. You said that "The D has given up a big play/drive here and there. But they have answered calls when all the odds were against it. They cover the failure of the offense possession after possession." Well its those 2 drives that are the reason why we werent 5 and 0 going into this game. I thought this was a good game offense was better than it has been, Landry Jones just made one bad mistake,,, the last int he threw other than that he played great.

But that is just my Opinion

I agree mostly with ya wrench but Jones threw two bad int,s. One that he shoulda' put out of bounds and then the last one. But yah, he's doing just fine and he'll be a very QB in the future. Defense was outstanding!!!! Have done a great job all year. And another thing to everyone. Get off the coaches!!! The players have to execute.

Congratulations to OSU on a big win over Missouri.

OKC, how can you title a thread the way you did, and then go on with this "Our" and "we" BS? And Bandit, we don't go to A&M. I kinda wish we did, since they're awful, but they play here this year. Tech and Kansas will be tough, no doubt, and so will Nebraska.

Yeah the two int's hurt, but the one that was heading out of bounds i dont really blame Jones for it, The cornerback went up pretty high to get that one. I agree we need to lay off the coaches it is the players job to go out and execute,,, but at the same time they conservitive play calling is pretty bad, i wish we could learn how to run a halfback toss or a halfback pitch, instead of running straight up the gut 20 times for 20 yards.

I agree with okcfan12 but not completely I would like to see the down the throat offense but dont get away from the spread completely theirs times when you need it. The defense is just outstanding and keeps them in games. I think texas should be ashamed about saturday. Their the #3 team and they beat #20 by 3 points with a backup QB without the best tightend in the nation and a brand new line.

Oh.... bsman63.I am not a Texas fan either. My favourite team plays in the SEC. (They are not doing very well either). When racing season winds down I set back and read all of the side line football hero's comments, and laugh my A$$ off and then throw some fuel on the fire LOL!
