Canyon Speedway Park Hosts Arizona Sprint Cars “Season Ending Point Battle” This Saturday October 17, 2009

Press Release, Canyon Speedway Park - Peoria, AZ October 14, 2009: Race teams will be stepping their games up a notch going into this weekend’s last point battle for the Arizona Sprint Car Association (ASCA) season ending championship. Sitting on top of the chart is fifteen-year-old Zach Sawyers from Gilbert, Arizona holding onto a fourteen-point lead. Sawyers won the ASCA rookie of the year title last season and he continues to prove that he belongs in the incredibly competitive division. Sawyers wheels an Ellis chassis sponsored by Piggly’s BBQ, Campbell’s Towing and is powered by a Mountain Motors built engine.

Another young gun that is making his presence known by riding second in points is Mike Colegrove of Glendale, Arizona. Goodyear resident Nathan High is tied for second and has won the last two main events at Canyon Speedway Park. Another heavy hitter that has chalked up a few main event wins and will be tough to beat Saturday night is native Phoenix driver RJ Johnson. With many competitors winning features this season, Canyon Speedway fans are sure to see an action packed and excitement filled race extravaganza! Also running alongside the sprint cars are the modified midgets, pure stock and bomber divisions.

Canyon Speedway Park is located South of Carefree Highway and West of Lake Pleasant Parkway. Spectator gates open at 5:00pm and racing will start at 7:30pm this Saturday October 17th, 2009. General admission - $15, Senior & Military - $13, Children 12 and under are always FREE! An all access pit pass can be purchased for $30 at the back gate.
