Don't think that Tyler Walker will be there. Gary Costa reported that he will not be running wingless at either Perris or Tulare.

I heard Danny Faria Jr cannot make it to Ovals this year, because of finances for his race team. Like housing his crew plus sponsorship has been hard to come by. Plus he has been running the west coast 360s for the May family in the 8m car. Talking to his crew, they said they are gearing up to race the Pacific Coast Nationals at the TULARE THUNDERBOWL RACEWAY.

I know Bruce St. James plans on running the Ovals & Tulare. He put it down on his list of upcoming races on his racing report.
It sounds like the economy has really hurt racing this year. I sure hope we get more cars than what's listed. If not, it's sad to say but the Ovals will just be an extended regular Sat. nite show. I wish there was more that the fans can do. Maybe if we all pitched in $5 or $10 to help out, even tho it's not much but it might help out a team or two with fuel, tires or hotel rooms? Just a thought.
Good luck to everyone racing this weekend. Have fun.
June
RIP Chet and Mark. You might be gone but never will

You also have to remember that this race last year no longer paid $30,000 to win so you know that some Mid West cars that may have come for that kind of money will not tow for $12,500 to win.........Just sayin! ! !

So as of 10/11, there were just over 30 cars entered; it looks like the economy, along with the purse cut, is doing the damage to car counts. I hope that something can be done to return the stature and prestige to the Ovals
But the Ovals never really paid back through the field really well. I crewed on a car that made the main all three nights four or five years ago - while we were not a front runner, the car only made about $1000 total for all three nights.....

I just referenced last year's program from the first night of the Ovals, and noticed that 64 cars qualified. I think that it is a good bet to conclude that there will be the same amount of cars this year as well.
I also noticed that Josh Ford did not have a team car for another driver last year, is this correct?

It says Darland was in the RWB Mtspt #2b on the first night of the Ovals last year. Seems like I remember him being in a yellow car. I could be wrong though.

In the 2008 Oval Nationals, Dave Darland came from the B main into the A and had a top 10 finish in the 2B car. The 2007 Oval Nationals, he drove the #44 Pace car... Dave drove the 73X car last year in the Glenn Howard Memorial race. Dave is supposed 2B in the 2B car this year, pardon the pun.
