Lanny has everyone over the barrel......he thinks. Nov. 13-15th will be an oppotunity for everyone to make a big step away from Lanny. I talked to Joe Madore earlier, he's again thinking about opening up Clinton weekly for next year. I sure hope he gets a bunch of cars to prove it can be done. I know some people don't exactly like Joe but if you've ever been cussed out by Lanny over the intercom with your family sitting next to you, Joe is like a saint compared to Lanny. Give Joe a call and tell him what needs to happen to make it work. If you don't at least try, then you deserve to race for Lanny.... Amazing job by all those who turned Lawton around this year to bad the track will always be in the Edwards family.

I also heard that Saturday night Lupi threw his headphones at Lanny and said that he was done. Lupi had made it fun to run at Lawton and sure had turned things around. We were planning on running Lawton next year and not running the Fairgrounds but now????

It all started on friday when the 45 car driven by matin edwards was black flagged for rough driving than on saturday 10k kyle ezel had a flat in his heat from contact with another car goes to the pit and comes back on the track after the race was restarted he was given the black flag but would not pull off when lupi went to his car after the heat to tell him he would not be able to start the feature lanny over ruled that decision when on fridays racing several cars tangled on the start of the heat leaving joe bob with a flat and a hesatant push truck to bring him around to the pits so he could change tire when trying to return to track he was told no this allowed only 3 cars to restart that heat KUDOS to lupi for standing up to lannys bullsh!! after the disagreement lanny got on the intercom and said lupi got sick and he would be running the remainder of the program and dared any body to question it well your right lanny lupi like the rest of us are sick of your sh!!

Yes its true Lupi is done with Lawton speedway. I am also done with the place as are a few of the others who helped turn it around. There were several things that happened friday and saturday that led to this. We worked hard all year to give everyone a fair place to race and it was ruined in one weekend. I want to thank all the drivers that made Lawton speedway one of the best places to race this year. I will be hanging up my tech inspection clothes and putting the drivers suit back on. With that being said Clinton is sounding like a pretty good idea.

wow that was a little forthright.
by all rights - best to just wish Lawton Speedway the best of luck. They had a great year - and thats great for SW Oklahoma race fans.
I mean think if Lawton fades again - where does everyone go to race. Racers will find their way between Elk City, Ardmore, Clinton, maybe even tracks in Texas. But its not so simple for the average fan down there?
It's still early october - by all rights the landscape of this situation will probably change drastically by April 2010.

You would think that Lanny would have seen the turn around at Lawton and started taking notes from Lupi on how to run a track. Lupi and his crew done an excellent job. They made racing fun again. Racing at SFS for the last 5 years, you kinda forget that racing can be fun. Without Lupi and his crew, it looks like Lawton will have about 10 cars in every class again.......... BORING !!!!!!!!!!!!

I enjoyed seeing you guys in the tech area. LOL I hope that Lanny changes his mind and gets down on his knees and begs all of you to come back and then vows never to set foot at Lawton Speedway ( I know it probably won't happen and its just a thought )

Sounds like to me it's the end of the road for this track owner.. The glory days are behind him now and it's a crying shame. Like I have said in some of my previous post on favouritism and politics it will not work no matter who you are. I guess thats why so many of the old racing venues are shutting their doors, because track owners have lost the reality of what put them on the map in the first place. It's called surrounding them self with good people and competitors. When you have lost that or grow the attitude that this is my track and I will do what I want when I want, Bottom line you just screwed your self and everybody that has tried to support you and the track. The next step would be to sell out and buy a RV and go to other tracks and see how it is supposed be done the way he must have forgotten how too do or he just don't care anymore... Thats my 2 cents....

What do you all expect from someone who use to pack over 8,000 butts into Devils Bowl for an Outlaw show at @ $25 a seat, plus profit from beer and concessions and claimed he lost money? The man is way past his time!

I hate to here it too, we started racing at Lawton this year and really enjoyed it and met a lot of good people. We were towing almost 100 miles and intended on doing it again next year. I raced at Faxon in the late 80s and never had a problem with Lupi, I hope he and Lanny read some of this stuff so they know how we all feel about it.

Lanny doesn't care what anybody on this forum says, mainly because he thinks he has done nothing wrong. Just ask him! What a joke....

Something everybody needs to know when it looked like the A features were going to be rained out in lawton. lanny got on the intercom and announced the make-up race would be scheduled for April of 2010. So if it looks like weather is going to be a factor this weekend once that midget gets your money you wont see it again. I have also heard he is going rename lawton speedway Deliverance, but I think he is going to be the only pig squealing next year, and just in-case lanny or one of he's inbreeds read this it's called negative advertisement see you in COWTOWN

I have a Lawton story for you. I went down there for the 1st time last weekend (to race). I was excited about the smooth track and good car count. This was before the races started on Friday. By the end of saturday I was really disapointed. In the heat and the feature on Friday I was spun out. I was half way in the track and the yellow never flew. That would have been fine if it was a consistant act. It was not. I saw several cars throughout both nights that spun or were spun and were completely off the track in the infield and what do you know, A YELLOW FLAG. This was not the worst thing. I was told after asking where to pit, because I was pitted by the track entrance on the far East side, that I could pit just on the north side of the track entrance. When I was involved in someone elses misfortune I had a flat. I went to where I was told to pit and was immediatly very loudly cussed up one side and down the other by Lanny. I then pulled in to where he told me to go, got the tire changed and was guided backwards to turn around and go back on the track. I was immediatly cussed in the same manner by Lanny. I was told after I came back in that I had been black flagged for almost backing into him. I dont have a mirror in my car and I had 3 people guiding me back. This was not a very good 1st impression for me. Lupi was very helpful to me from the phone calls before I went down there to returning my flashlight after I left it on my car on Friday. Thanks Lupi. Clinton would be real nice for me. Real close to home. I hope the rumer about Joe is true but I have heard that before and is has not yet happened.
