I know it has to be pretty tough on the road, long hours, traveling all over, playing 2nd fiddle to the NASCAR guys...BUT what is with Saldana? I remember listening to him on Dirtvision from Spencer talking about how hard it is on his family (this was in front of the grandstand) I realize it would be, but he sounded just miserable. Then last night at the Grove after quals, he just moped around and basically said his night was over. It might be true, but at least try to find some positives or plug your crew or sponsors. Now here comes the "at least he's real" comments, but its hard to root for a guy who doesn't even act like he enjoys what he is doing. It's depressing....it makes a guy want to start drinking....HEY WAIT A MINUTE.....

Saldana has twice the personality as Sammy and Sammy is one of the greatest who ever lived. Racers are judged by their right foot.
No doubt he is one of the best, not trying to dispute that at all, but in this day of Public Relations, and Live TV trying to win new fans might be difficult. I have been watching some of the old TNN shows, and Sammy is just about as enthused as he would be having a tooth pulled, but your right he still gets it done.

Its always something- I wish they had cameras on you at work so I could get on here and about how you do your job. Pretty much the same thing. By the way- most days my job sucks and I'm kind of a dick at work.

HAHAHAAAAAAA...... thankyou why judge the guy saldana is a great driver and like anyone else he gets pissed at himself for a poor performance besides it's not as easy as you think it is to drive for a team who's got plenty of money and can replace him at anytime (not that kasey would do that...) so sure he wanted to do well last night and was a little upset with himself big deal cut the guy some slack!!!
I'm a big advocate of being a fan for a driver based on what they do (and don't do) on the racetrack.
How many of us come home glowing about how fantastic our day was? I don't want to talk... I just want to unwind. Considering the risk they put themselves through vs. me staring at a computer screen... I bet it's even worse for the drivers.
I remember a WoO race at TMS a few years ago and being struck by how down, negative and simply depressed many of the drivers were after the races. I recall thinking how in the world can these dudes be depressed 100 times a year like that?
I like Saldana, like his car owner... I think they do it right. I don't personally care for the "wo is me, it's so tough being on the road" story though.
Well... it's tough for anyone that travels as part of their job. If you don't like or tolerate the travel... get another job without travel. Free country & all. More than one of us has quit a job over too much travel or hours or something.
I wish we could all love what we do but I don't think it's realistic. Keep your chin up, Joey. A lot of people would trade places with you in 2 seconds. Life could be worse. It's honorable to have family priorities... but very few of us have a perfect life and perfect job. We do the best we can and enjoy life a little along the way. Take the good with the bad and hope for more of the former.

Joey couldn't be much more decent. He struggles at the Grove so that always has him a little down. A true competitor is never happy about starting in the back! He's a humble appreciative family man that will drive by the best in the business on the high side just about anywhere but the Grove. We are fortunate to have him around. If he wanted to, he probably could have gone to NASCRAP.
Luna's Ford engine style that won 2 WoO titles and 3
Kings Royals before a weight rule against the best EVER
in their prime and now DOMINATES super dirt late model
racing is no longer allowed/wanted in a WoO sprint
car.... Was Luna a miracle worker?

My relatives used to own Sprint Cars so I've got kind of a jaded attitude when it comes to drivers. They're alright as long as they don't bend our sh*t but we're putting their name on the car in duct tape just in case. Nobody was exempt, my cousin had three drivers that are now enshrined in the HOF in the car on and off over the years. Their names were written on duct tape with a magic marker just like everyone else.
Or like my son says "race drivers are like strippers, I like watching them do their thing but I don't want to get to know them."
Actually in recent years I have broke with that philosophy and gotten to know a few of them. They have good days and bad days just like I do. You can't take them seriously or it will end up bursting your bubble.
