DFC 1. #15 Bill Walker ~ Adams Racing, Collins Fab, Walker Racing Yamaha

The Vintage main event was a barn burner from the green light. Walker, twisted the throttle on his Yamaha 500 engine and dumpped the clutch off the starting line, launching his bike into the first turn. On the outside came Cacy Carpenter and a tremendous battle ensued between those two lead riders for the entire 10 lap main. Carpenter tried every approach to dethrone Walker's lead, but could not get his Honda in front of Walker's Yamaha on the dry slick track on the final lap at the finish line.. Carpenter celebrated his 49th Birthday Saturday racing his motorcycle

DIRTTRACK / FLATTRACK

The proper term in the AMA rulebook is Dirt Track, which includes TT, Short Track, 1/2 Mile and Mile Dirt Tracks. Some in parts of the country refer to it as Flattrack, the Peoria TT in Peoria, Illinois is far from flat.

AMA GRAND NATIONAL CHAMPION

Not too long ago for a rider to become the Grand National Champion, he/she was required to race in all those disciplines plus Road Racing. The rider with the most points at the end of the season was crowned the Grand National Champion and was honored by being allowed to run the #1 Number Plate of the AMA Pro Circuit. King Kenny Roberts was one of the Grand National Champions.

MOTORCYCLE COMPETITION 101 ~ REQUIRED VIEWING FOR ALL MOTORCYCLE COMPETITORS

Everyone involved in Motorcycle Racing should watch Bruce Brown's Classic movie "On Any Sunday" This movie explains the traditions and history of motorcycle racing in the U.S. from it's roots. Here is the link to the entire movie to watch for fee online!

http://www.hulu.com/watch/79438/on-any-sunday

Movie features Malcolm Smith, Steve McQueen, and AMA Grand National Champion at the time, Mert Lawill, and the kid doing the stoppy on the bike, wheelie on the Honda 50 and the Bicycle the great Jeff Ward.

SHORT TRACK RACING
What we produce at the OK Corral Indoor Arena is called Short Track racing. A form of the Dirt Track discipline of motorcycle racing.

OK CORRAL LOCATED 15 MINUTES FROM DOWNTOWN OKC

OK Corral Indoor Arena is located near, if not the exact center of Oklahoma just 15 minutes east of downtown Oklahoma City off of Highway I-40. Surrounded by four major highways, I-44, I-40 and I-35, the building is easy to access from the surrounding states. The bedroom community of Harrah and near by Mid West City are composed of many employees of nearby Tinker Air Force Base. With a large amount of mechanical and technical trained people living in the area, there are many who enjoy powersports and racing.

Although the building is not totally heated, there are several large wood burning pot belly and 55 Gallon drum heaters available to warm up during the winter months. That is part of the romance of racing inside these old barns.

Over the past 7 years we have had riders and fans come from as far away as Australia, Wales and Canada. Including an AMP OWN race round winner AMA GNC National #73 Doug Lawrence of Mississauga Ontario Canada. 650 racers from 8 states and two countries have competed in the AMP OWN series over the past 6 years.

FEES FOR THE THREE OKLAHOMA INDOOR DIRT TRACK RACING SERIES

All three of the Indoor Dirt Track Series in Oklahoma have similar fees for racing. Ada Oklahoma Sports Park has a $20 Pit Pass Fee, and $10 for Amateur Classes, $35 for Pro, $20 & $25 for the 100% Payback money classes. Those are the same entry fees for the AMP Outlaw Winter Nationals events held at the Historic OK Corral Indoor Arena in Harrah, Oklahoma. Yahoo Racing series at the Creek County Fairgrounds charges a $15 Pit Pass fee, $15 for Amateurs and $35 for Pro Classes. So it costs an amateur racer $30 to race at Harrah, and $30 to race at Kelleyville and $30 to race at Ada.

AMP OWN PURSE

If racing in the money classes, the entry fee is higher than the trophy classes, but 100% of the entry fee is paid back to the racers in purse. 1st 40% 2nd 30% 3rd 20% 4th 10% Total 100%. The four Pro Classes with the AMP OWN Series have a Points Fund where $5 is held from each entry and paid to the High Points Champion at the end of the 14 race series. Last year the four winners earned around $350 each from the points fund.

RACE FORMAT

The entry fee for the AMP Series includes two Hot Lap Sessions, a Heat Race, possibly a Semi and the A Main Event. We run four divisions: Karts, ATVs, Hot Rod Mowers, and Motorcycles. Typically we run 32 heat races each round of the series. So the racing is quick and fires off from the pit gate in rapid order to get everyone through in less than 3 hours. Our program at the Historic OK Corral Indoor Arena is similar to Speedway Racing, as we have short 4 lap qualifying heat races and quick 8 lap Features.

AMP CHARGES:
1. No annual membership fee
2. No weekend membership fee
3. No National Sanction membership fee
4. No camping fee
5. No parking fee
6. No electrical hook up fee
7. No Rider's School fee
8. No license fee
9. No additional fee for practice

AMP PROVIDES:
1. Free Bar B Que Awards Party at the end of the series Last year there were over275 people served Smoked Brisket, Smoked Pork Butt, Hamburgers, Hot Dogs, Potato Salad, Cole Slaw, Buns, Bread, Smoked Onions and more. Award winner Smoker Bob Taylor from Great Southern Water Beds prepares the smoked meats. Held at Charlie Frazier's "Motorcycle Collection" grounds in west Tulsa each year during the annual Motorcycle Gathering.

2. Awards for the top three in Points in 32 Classes at the end of each season.

3. Money towards the Dash For Cash at each round of the Series.
Opening Round this season we provided $400 towards the Dash For Cash Races

4. Points Fund: Last season the Hi Point winners in the Open Pro Quad and Open Motorcyle took home over $300 in point fund money each. Bret Sowders, open pro motorcycle hi-point winner took home $1,105.000 in winnings for the season.

5. Written articles with results published in Cycle News, ATV Racin' Extra, ATV News, area newspapers and online Ezines.

The main attraction is the Fun Factor and the fine group of folks that make it all happen. Including a good mix of Karts, Hot Rod Mowers, Quads and what started it all back in the day Motorcycles.

BRIEF HISTORY OF THE OK CORRAL INDOOR ARENA

The Historic OK Corral Indoor Arena has some great motorcycle racing history and that
is why we refer to it as the Historic OK
Corral. Racing greats from Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas and Missouri have competed in the
arena since 1970. The late Randy Cleek
AMA GNC National #29, won several Open
Pro races at the arena. http://randycleek.com/

A long list of racers got seat time at
the Indoor races at the OK Corral, then
known as Johnson's Arena including K&N
Yamaha's Phil and Pat McDonald, Danny and
Timmy Cartwright, Guy Cooper, Old Pro
Jimmy Long, Johnny Isaacs, Charlie Smith,
Frank Bardaro, Rusty Bond, Jay Lawson,
Cacy Carpenter, Harpo. And some recent
famous names such as World of Outlaws
PR director Shane Carson, past AMA GNC
#29 Scott Adams, AMA DMG Announcer
Scottie Deubler.

Port City Raceway owner/promoter Aaron
Lemmons and his brother Alan. Plus along
list of others, many who are still racing
there today, or who one may sit by on the bleachers.

And in memory, the late Ted Boody, the
late Terry Smith, the late Tracy Harlan,
the late Billy Boisemier, the late Bret
Brady, the late Ernie Shade. They don't
all make it, through their racing careers. http://www.tedboody.com/

TODAY'S NEW TALENT

A new breed of young racers are making a
name for themselves at the OK Corral this season, including Frankie Bardaro, last
seasons overall High Point Champion of
the series. Frankie, 9 yrs old, took the
titles in two disciplines of racing
including Quads and Motorcycles. Quite
an accomplishment for a 9 year old kid.

Tony Opichka, also 9 years old, who races
Dirt Track and Motocross is another fast
kid from Oklahoma, keep your eye on him.
But the quickest kid of all is Edmond's #16 Wesley Collins. At 8 years old this kid
is a jet, super talent, and loves to race
Dirt Track. Collins competed in his
first AMA Amateur Nationals this past
summer, making a great showing for his
first time outside of Oklahoma. On the
Short Tracks Indoors, this kid is
phenomenal.

ANNUAL ED DALEY TRIBUTE TO LIFE RACE DEC 26, 2009

In December of each year around Christmas
time we hold the Annual Ed Daley Tribute
to Life Memorial race. A portion of the
fees collected by that date go into the
riders Purse and Dash For Cash funds for
that event. This year, Charlie Frazier
has built an Ed Daley Yamaha Replica for
Red Daley. The bike will make a
commemorative lap in honor of Ed Daley.

Just a little history on the building,
it's memories to many people, and links
to honor those that represented Oklahoma
on the International and National level
racing motorcycles professionally, and
passed before us.

BRING A BUDDY, TELL A FRIEND!

WE RACE RAIN, SHINE, SLEET, HAIL, SNOW, OR ICE..... IT'S INDOORS !
