In a post lately about a big wreck, someone mentioned that RRVS in Fargo might be closing down. I emailed a friend in Fargo, and yes its true, to some extent. The fairboard is meeting next month to see what to do with the track. It might close, but he didn't hear of any other ideas. Anyone else heard that lives in the area?

They are saying they have not made any money the last few years. Someone has given a bid to lease the track for 2010, didn't say who? They said they will deside soon what they will do. I hope they lease the track to someone. They need someone to spark some interest in the place!!!

Just tonight on the news here in Fargo they talked about it being leased out. Some details still have to be worked out. One of the two big problems is they have six (yes 6) classes of cars on this big half-mile. The other and more major problem is that the races are boring boring boring as H. The cars get immediately strung out during the first lap and the rest of the race is a big bore. Maybe there are some exceptions to feature races once in a while, but the racing is just plain boring. They rely too much on the back gate, the large number of cars in all those classes and hopefully those cars all have lots of friends and relatives who will buy tickets, which ain't many. It is a first class facility, so its too bad. Walk into the grandstands and look around and its a beauty of a place, with the black dirt and white cement wall. Transform it into a 1/3rd mile track!!

Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

Back in the 70's when I travelled regularly from Winnipeg, and also for the WOO show that Don Mack, ran the place was THE place to go. It is a fantastic facility and would be better to run only three or four at the most . Too bad they can't get enough sprints to have a good field there. Make it a 1/3 track? WOW,now that would be some joint.........

huh , I said I heard a rumor, but unfortunatly, most is true apparently?, living on the opposite side of the state currently, I attended college in the FM area years ago, our Friday nights were steaks on the grill and 360 sprints to follow,(Steaks n Sprints) we didnt miss many nights, my first impression of the WoO came from that track back in the 80's ,In 04 I spent some time learning the specifics of a 360 car with a friend that drove there weekly, the track just has a soft spot for me and I hate to see its fate in the air, Very nice facility, as a driver I kinda like the room and speed, for the fans it can become a bit of a yahner, I hope something pans out for the locals currently competeing there , if a sprint class were ever added, you can count on it, Ill be there! crossing my fingers.

It's time for Fargo & Grand Forks to work together. One needs to run Friday the other Saturday. Do you think Danny is talking about leasing it out?

Hate to say it, but G.F. will not or NEVER change there races to a Saturday. Go there on a regular show and see the crowd they get..It will never happen. Fargo needs to scale down the size of the track is where i'd start..Its a nice place no doubt, but real bore to watch..

Fargo dropped the weekly Sprints and now offers some variation of the same worn out boring back gate promoting lineup as every friggin' Wissota track from eastern Wisconsin to Montana. Don't tell me, let me guess...Wissota Late Models (360 cast block), Wissota Modifieds, Wissota Midwest Modifieds, Wissota Super Stocks, Wissota Street Stocks, Wissota Mod 4's plus Pure Stocks and Hornets running under track rules... Man, I gotta stop before I gag and puke all over my keyboard. wink

Just in case anybody from the Stock Car and Mod classes reads this I'm kidding.

Danny Schatz and Dell Arneson were spotted together a couple days ago at Petro. Apparently just not your average lunch either. But, this isn't saying they are the ones involved.

We moved from Bismack to Fargo about 6 years ago. Was thinking it would be great to see both Fargo and Grand Forks every weekend---what could be better. Got here and could not believe these two cities run their shows on the same nite. Very disappointed. About 4th weekend of racing, Fargo rained out, Grand Forks didn't and we hurried up to Grand Forks. What an action track. Sadly, ain't seen a local West Fargo show other than WoO since. Shorten it to a 3/8 or 1/3rd and we'll be there on Friday nites. What could it cost? $50,000 worth of dirt work? The wall would be nice, but not needed.

Located up here in the "Tragic City" ,ahh the girls in bunny ears are kinda cute, but , still not to frightning of a mascot? its proubly just a ploy to distract opposing teams?, anyway,

I like the phrase Ive heard and learned to discribe RRVS over the years , "its kinda like Knoxville ,but faster" Ive raced on both, and its true, the long track makes for exciting starts, most drivers are up on the wheel, knowing the field will "draw out" if a move isnt made earlie, respecting the wall and speed is something Ive come to admire about the place, personally I like it the way it is (1/2mile) it gives off its own idenity, and in ND, we have non other like it (understood from a fans point) this can be a bit of a bore,I personally , travel to the majority of the tracks throughout race season here in ND, so the differant track size is a refreshing site, maybe the lack of time on RRVS keeps my interest, but, bring back the 360's,ASCS,Nosa,whatever(anything with a wing) and it might be interesting again. JMO, Agreed a Saturday night event might help aid the lack of interest?, Im not familiar with other surounding tracks weekly shows (Buffalo,Jamestown, one other im thinking of but forget)but im positive the cars in some fields would suffer, I dont have much of a answer, but, I hope somebody does, Ive heard some speculation of interested parties,in ownership, promoting, ect in that region, but, I feel , I already cried wolf, and you dont need to hear it from me first.

What a beautiful track, 2 and 3 wide. Unfortunatly the races were mismanaged. The races had half hour to one hour delays between races. Sell Beer I guess? I quit going the year they ran a 3 week old 360 rainout with green storm clouds in the west before the WOO feature. Eleven laps into the WOO feature the clouds opened up and the WOO feature was ended. As good as the 360's are I do not pay $40 to see them I want to see the WOO. I hope they can get someone in there to manage it properly.

I presume that would be "Why Not Minot"? Killdeer - where the women chew more than the men - never believed it, then I saw a couple chics from Killdeer spitting. MMM - how about making out with that? RRVS - has and always will be my favorite track in ND. Personally, the races I've seen there haven't been as spread out as some say it gets. Apparently, I hit the track at the right times. The place holds a fortune - I believe anyway - with the right people running it!

BTW - Grand Forks -" the armpit of ND" someone from Bismarck once told me.

Dickinson - where the men are men and hot women know it! HAHA LOL

For my first visit to the track this year for the WoO show, I did not leave disappointed and will be back next year at the first class facility. Awesome, awesome racing that night in traffic with Craig and Meyers duking it out non-stop for 30 laps! Man, I miss racing season already...

This year's WoO feature race was the most breathtaking sprint car race I've seen in years. The speed and in traffic was something to see, but its the Friday night stockers that is where the problem is, though with 3 other cities in N.Dak getting WoO dates, even the one Fargo WoO race, with its 9,000+ seats is only half full.

the RRVS WoO date has taken a hit the past few years, we must be sprint fans or just ignorant of the speed the stockers bring? , much like Stan posted earlier it has become a familiar site the "back door promoting" among a great portion of the upper midwest/wissota type tracks , its too bad , as for the race this past year I was buisy getting dizzy on the infield, its pretty tuff to keep focussed on the leaders when down there , besides ,I was watching friends (in thier company) during the race, If you have never watched a outlaw feature at RRVS from ground zero, its a absolute must! Its really loud the concrete makes for a loud infield!, and the speed they are running is more appreciated when observed from one of the four corners , I took my uncle and Dad a couple years ago and told them to just wonder the infield during the heats to find your preferred feature spot, needless to say I think thier beer afterwords was foaming up on them, I think they were shaking more than the drivers, LOL,they have talked about it ever since , Its a totally differant animal when viewed from the infield , RRVS is one of my favorites!

I think Harwoods own, Loren Langrued was leading the first portion of that if my memory is right ? (I would have really liked to see a local cap off the Outlaws at his home track) then it poored, a typical Red River poor , we were soaked , but still having fun .
