It was a great night of racing for second on back, as Spencer really had the field covered. What his combination he found at Calistoga really must have given him lightning in a bottle.

I was up in the press box last night. Here's the story I wrote, if anyone is interested.

Blake Miller was out of there by the time I got to the pits. Anyone know what they were working on in the work area during the last red flag?

Richard, you're absolutely right about Spencer...that 'lil red sucker has been a rocket the last couple of races! Congratulations to those guys on a job well done! The other teams are definitely going to have to step it up a notch if they're going to try to hang with that team in the closing months.

Blake Miller had a flat tire that had to be changed under the red, which is why they elected to go to the work area and get it fixed. He had his hands full all night...the (newest) Sled just wasn't up to par Saturday. Blake thinks that possibly they still had some residual damage from the hard hits the car took at Calistoga. He ran the black #16 at Victorville the week before, so they hadn't had a chance to shake the car out. Too bad you missed him in the pits. The hauler was loaded early, but he was standing around for quite some time in street clothes signing autographs. He's a class act!

Ageed about Mike Spencer, He has raised the bar and the rest of us better step it up. Doug, you hit it right on when you called Blake a class act. He does not get near the attention he deserves. Look at the video of David Cardey's flip. Who is in the background checking on David, yep Blake. When we were trying desperately to get David's back up car out, I look up and there is blake helping David get his helmet or belts on. I'm glad to see people recognize him on this board. Also, thanks to Danny Sheridan , Jonny Bates and several other drivers and crew who offered their assistance.

I wandered around for a bit, but I tend to have a knack for missing guys. I talked to Blake a few weeks ago at Victorville, and he's definitely a class act (as witnessed by his actions after David's flip). I'm going to work on something for later this week mentioning that as an example of why sprint car racing is...just different than other sports.

I don't belive the bar has been raised very much.

If David would have had the car he had in qualifing(before he modified it with the turn 1 wall)the A main on sat. night would have been a total different race.

David did a super job coming from the back to finish 4th!

Once again he took a bad night, and turned it in to something good.

Thats how you win championships!

Two thumbs up to the #38 team, great job guys!

P.S. One more yellow flag on sat. nite and who knows what might have happend?

I don't think anyone was catching Spencer on Saturday night; he had close to a straightaway and a half lead on the rest of the field at the checkers. However, if David could ever start near the front, and stay there, it would be some great racing.
