Sprint Invaders Hit Historic Farley Speedway for First Time on Friday!

(Bill W) September 15, 2009 – The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders will add another track to their series' history this Friday night. For the first time, the historic Farley Speedway in Farley, Iowa will host the popular sprint car series.

The Sprint Invaders emerged from last weekend's "Triple Threat" events in Illinois with a tight points battle. Just three points separate leader "Flyin'" Ryan Jamison from the "Lil' Dude" Bobby Mincer heading into Friday's competition on the high banked 3/8 mile oval in Farley. Matt Rogerson holds down a solid third in the standings ahead of "The Hitman" Mike Houseman Jr. and Jimmy Davies.

Last weekend's events saw two first time winners. Des Moines racer Russ Hall was victorious at the Herb Barlow Memorial at the Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, while veteran Jim Moughan Jr. copped the 25th Annual Tom Knowles Memorial at the Spoon River Speedway south of Canton. "Showtime" Kaley Gharst captured his series' best fifth feature win of the season on Sunday at the Quincy Raceways.

Pit gates and the front gate open at 4:30 p.m. with hot laps beginning at 6:30 p.m. The event will also serve as night #3 for the Late Model Yankee Dirt Track Classic!

The Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders conclude their 2009 season on Saturday, September 26 at the 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa.

What is an honest guestimate as to how many cars to expect?

"Historic Farley Speedway"??? Wow, I love the place but I never though of it as "historic"......too much has changed in the last 3-7 years that about all that is left from the place built in the 60's. It's got less banking and they carved a new T3 & 4 to make a 3/8 inside the half. I imagine that most sprint haulers will have to pit outside T2 near the shop.

Plenty of camping available, beautifull weather to stay up all night after the track bar (good food in there) closes at 2 am. I expect around 60 LM's and 30 mods so probably 5 heats for them and 3 for the modifieds.
