Morgan County Speedway will host the 12th Annual Herb Barlow Memorial Race, Friday, September 11, 2009, in honor of the late Herb Barlow, a long time fan and pit steward from Springfield.

Herb began working as a pit steward in 1957. He worked at Springfield Speedway until it closed and worked at Morgan County Speedway for 15 years until the time of his death in 1997 at the age of 70. He loved the winged spring cars.

Herb was born December 10, 1926. He retired from Pillsbury Mills where he was a millwright for 36 years. His wife Betty, daughters Jeanine, from Colorado, and Jolene, from St. Louis, will be at the race on September 11, 2009.

The family of Herb Barlow is going to have drivers autograph and give out 200 frisbees at intermission and have gotten over $1200 in contingent money for the sprint car race.

The Herb Barlow Memorial Race is set for Friday, September 11, 2009, at the Morgan County Speedway in Jacksonville, Illinois. They will be running the Ideal Ready Mix Sprint Invaders, POWRi Midgets, Street Stock and Multi.

Grandstands open at 5 p.m. Races start at 7 p.m.

Extra prizes for the Sprint Drivers: $50 for each lap lead for feature (Possible $1250 winnings)

Case of racing oil for Semi-feature winner (oil will go to feature winner if no semi is needed)

Left rear Hoosier tire for Trophy Dash Winner
