Stan Meissner of DIRTCAST.COM talks to Jerry Richert Jr. about the Jerry Richert Memorial IRA/Knoxville Challenge race that takes place each season at the Cedar Lake Speedway in New Richmond, Wisconsin. This year the race will be contested on September 12. Jerry Richert Sr. won the 1962 Knoxville Nationals and scored IMCA National titles in 1964, 1965, 1966 and 1968 with runner up finishes in 1967 and 1970. In addition to the IMCA titles and Knoxville Nationals win Jerry Richert Sr. competed in the little 500 and is a member of the Little 500 Hall of Fame and the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame. Past winners of the Jerry Richert Memorial include Kim Mock, Don Droud Jr., Terry McCarl, Justin Henderson, Mike Reinke and Brooke Tatnell. Terry McCarl’s one lap track record of 10.757 seconds set at the 2004 Jerry Richert Memorial still stands. The Interstate Racing Association is the sanctioning body for the Jerry Richert Memorial.
