Pombo and Wright Sprint to Victory Lane

The Wright One winged injected sprint car series made its third visit
to the Chowchilla Speedway and Ricky Wright Jr. made his first trip
to victory lane at the Chowchilla Speedway.

Wright battled with the hard charging Justin Sanders right down to the
checkered flag, and then performed a NASCAR style burnout and
donuts for the fans. "The race track was in great condition and was a
lot of fun to race on, this is a great night for our team and our
sponsors" Ricky Wright Jr. Steve Osborne, Aaron Sirles, and Steve
Jaquith rounded out the top five.

The non-winged injected Bandit Sprint cars also thrilled the crowd
with a two car battle up front for most of the main event. Davey
Pombo took control of the race in the early stages but was chased
down by the ever entertaining Peter Murphy. Pombo was a bit too
strong for the hard driving Murphy, so it was Pombo then Murphy
when they finished the race. Aaron Altaffer, Albert Pombo, and Tyler
Edwards made up the balance of the top five.

The Valley Sportsman was presented by a new sponsor the
"Weedpatch Speedway" and Justin Shearer picked a great time to
pick up his first victory of the season as he also received the biggest
pay check of the season for the class. Mike Henault, Michael
Shearer, Tim Prothro, and Don Epps made up the top five.

In the hard running 4-Banger division Paul Thornburn outraced track
point leader Kathy Evans to the checkers followed by David Cox,
Bianca Aguiler, and Joe Willoughby.

Chris Koontz picked up the victory in the spec sprint class. Adam
Christian, Christian Hickman, Clay Smith and Pete Vine made up the
top five.

The ground pounding Western Modifieds, Super Stocks, Hobby
Stocks and 4-Bangers return to Chowchilla Speedway this Saturday
Night. Pit gates open at 4:00pm, grandstands open at 5:00pm, and
racing starts at 6:00pm! Checkout racechowchilla.com for more
information.
