Is there something I am missing at this track. Having attended 4 shows there i am prety sure i will take my family to a differn't track from now on. The track prep is totally unacceptable. The officiating is very biased and they drag a fifty car show (if the are lucky to get that many) into a three hour marathon. Something differen't needs to be done to keep the fans and drivers coming and i certainly have not seen the effort from the promoter at all.

yes, i agree i have been there 6 times and it seems like a 1 lane bottom track and dusty! i was not there last night but i have a friend that drives there he say it was a very bad track full of ruts! maybe they should call jackson speedway and ask how to prep a dirt track!or sauk center is always a smooth fast track they have people working on their track during the week not just on race day!

Good points. Talk to the people running the track and it sounds like they're doing a favor to us by running it. They seem to be ok people but have lost the nack of prepping a track. It's tough to run a sprint car on the track with all the holes.Parts aren't cheap. Can't prep a track with only a grader and a terragator...but it doesn't take as long!!

Jackson had a beautiful track both nights without any water or working during the show. They had about 70 sprints Friday and at least a 100 cars Saturday....and no holes.

There are a lot of variables that enter in to preparing a dirt track, they never turn out the same and sometimes it just doesn't work the way it should. Jackson maybe was smooth with no ruts but it also was not a typical race surface for Jackson. I suspect if you put 70 high powered race cars on Redwood speedway it would turn out different also. Maybe that is what is fun about dirt racing it is not always the same. The guys with horsepower want heavy tracks. the guys that can setup their cars might prefer a dry track, maybe they should pave the track in gold. {I suppose then it would be to shiny}

oldguy36 i think the point were trying to make here is that there is no track prep. It is always dry and rutted up. The current promoter puts water on sunday mornings and thats it. There is no prep during the week at all. By the time you get to race time it's already turning into a dust bowl.

And thats just the tip off the ice there. I havent even gotten into there race pets who can do no wrong in certain classes but heaven help any other driver who seems to breath on them. Seen some pretty ludicrous calls made there, especially 2 weeks ago in the imca stock car class. The place is just not any fun to take your family to.

Sorry I wont go to redwood after arlington and water the track till 4am any more.

with over 4inches of rain during the week were going to have a rough surface and I feel that we are doing a great job considering that 2 out of the 4 people in our family are suffering from life threatening illnesses this year. If you care to read more about it you can visit http://www.caringbridge.org/visit/brettallen

I sat in the grandstands at the jackson speedway friday night and coul hardly see the race as I had so much dust in my face, thats what I expect when I go to a dirt track if theres not dirt in your beer your at the wrong track.

See you at the races this saturday at Arlington as it Pirate and Princess kids Night with racecar rides school bus rides junior track officials chosen and a candy toss.

I guess the keyboard racers were not around 5 or 6 years ago when it was always a dryslick tire burner track. If you can do better contact the Allens, They would appricate the help from you pros. Talk about the calls 2 weeks ago (past history) talk to 4 different drivers behind what happend and get 4 different stories. Fans will always see what they want to see for the better for there drivers. God bless them. If not for the loyalty of drivers fans we would not have race tracks !!!! Sorry to see cars (and money) get bent up, thats racing on a dirt track.

buell1 I am guessing you were not there on that sunday. That was the most blatant take out of my 45 years of racing,being involved in racing and going to racing. It was a plain missed call by the officials and i understand that will happen from time to time, but i'm pretty sure there wouldn't be 4 differen't versions to how that shook out. And actually looking back to last sunday i will give you credit Allenator for grading of the ruts down in 1 and 2, it was a lot smoother in the features and the track actually had a groove and a half for the most part of the features. But it still needs to be more consistant from week to week, for most parts its one lane and not alot of passing. Thats not fun for drivers or fans.

dirthead7, I was there but did not see what happened. I know the drivers involved and I can not beleave that anyone of them involved would try and "take some one out" Did some one make a mistake, Yea I'll agree with that but trying to take them out intentionally and take the risk of hurting some one or them selfs I dont think so, not at the speeds they are going. I too have been involved in racing as long as I can remember. As far as the track being consistant talk to mother nature (she can be a witch at times) Hot sunny and windy to torental downpours and humid, go figure. Even Jacks Son had issues last Sat night according to the drivers. Its dirt track racing and the track conditions are part of the mystery. Thats what make the front runners so good, they adapt. Enjoy the races where ever you go. At least your at a dirt track !!!!

I know that nobody can prep a track perfectly. To dry....to wet, drivers can adapt to that. It's the ruts and holes that the people from the Redwood track are concerned about. Jackson may have been to slick and dusty, but nobody had to worry about hitting a hole and wrecking. I think most are complaining because this was never a problem in Redwood. Maybe the first few races of the year but not at the end of August.
