What a great weekend ! And it was all thanks to Marc and Page Olson who are without a doubt our personal nominees for Promoter Of the Year.
To watch fans go in search of Marc for the sole purpose of thanking him for the great effort put out by he and his staff in providing the wonderful picnic and the free admission to the Old Timer's Reunion was unique.Ronnie Shuman was in attendance for the race that is named after him and signed autographs for any and all who waited patiently but the cherry on top was to listen to the interview on Racin Boys when Ronnie said " Marc Olson is one of the top 5 Promoters in the country and people who want to learn how to be a promoter should go talk to him"(I am paraphrasing of course because I cannot remember his exact words.)
The weather cooperated and we had the best crowd ever and probably the best crowd of the year to watch these open wheel guys strut their stuff as the TnT Tourin Topless series finished up on a lightning fast racetrack that kept us on the edge of our seats.
P.S .
We have been reading a lot of opinions in this forum as to the reasons that the Nationals ticket sales are in free fall but the argument that Television could be a contributing factor does not hold much weight as we observe Marc's weekly crowds swell with the Discovery Channel's cameras recording a series to be shown later this year.

What is the deal with the Discovery channel? Will there be some type of racing on there? We are always looking for racing on TV.

haha, I think we're talking the effect of LIVE TV on the Nationals audience. Good to see Lakeside doing well, track has the most absurd seating layout I've ever seen with the press box obstructing the view of the top grandstand, but it was a good track with good racing.

The discovery channel for the past few weeks or so has been following some drivers from lakeside around and taping them for a special later on. I know there was a few modified drivers they were following around along with a couple others I believe.
