Congratulations to the winners of the Limited Modified Cowtown Challenge on 8/22 at Cowtown Speedway.
Tory Yant took the Cowtown Challenge and gave up his front row outside starting position to start the 25-lap feature in 24th.
On lap 12 Tory had advanced all the way up to 12th spot...giving him 13 laps to pull off the unimaginable: winning the Cowtown Challenge, which would result in him taking home $1000 for the win and the $2200 in sponsor money collected by the drivers and track for a total of $3200.
Then, near disaster struck on the restart when his front bumber became lodged with the rear bumber of Tim Clonch - - the two were stuck together for 1/2 lap before disconnecting...but dropping both to the back of the pack.
The track stayed green and Tory started his job all over again and charged his way up to finishing 9th the final 12 laps.
Since Tory did not win the Cowtown Challenge - all $2200 was then divided equally to the top 10 feature finishers...meaning $220 was added to each of their finishing position payback.
Here's the top 10 finisher's of the Limited Modified Cowtown Challenge feature race and their payback:
$1,220 Justin McCoy $720 Keith Martin $520 Brandon McElroy $420 Chase Brewer $370 Danny Ferguson $320 James Skinner $290 Robert Taylor $280 Tim Clonch $270 Tory Yant $270 Brett Young
Earlier in the night, the top 3 drivers McElroy, Yant and Jake Upchurch were pitted against each other in a 3-wide dash to determine who would start on the pole of the feature and gain the right of taking the Cowtown Challenge.
The first lap of the race, all 3 cars raced 3 wide, thrilling the crowd with McElroy picking up the win. McElroy declined the challenge, while Yant shocked the crowd by taking it; as he finished 2nd.
Thank you again to all of the sponsors who pulled together to make this event possible, and it was my pleasure to facilitate the event...I know from the response of the crowd they enjoyed it very much!
