Looks like a great weekend for the Old Timer's Reunion (weatherwise) and we will be there with bells on !
Thanks to Marc Olson we get to see the kind of racing that put Kansas City on the map back in the day. It's true that it was called super modifieds back then when the Sprint Car Nationals were first run in 1961,but it evolved into what is the mecca of many sprint car fans today.
Marion Robinson came to Maurice Muchnick who owned old Lakeside and wanted to promote the Nationals right here in our backyard but Maurice didn't have the vision that it took to gamble on it.So many of "The Greats" were from this area and they went on to set the bar pretty high at that sleepy little town that hosted the 1st Nationals.
Hope to see you all at Lakeside this weekend.

Dang, I wish I was there to see all 3 of you, heck if it was next weekend then Kim could have stopped by as she is heading back to KC for a short holiday. I enjoyed those couple of times I set up next to the 'beerstud' and sold my wares and the racing for the most part was awful good. Mr. Olson has done a great job over the years with that facility and the KC area is a great place to spend a weekend. Take It Easy....

This is always a GREAT track to see a race. This weekend will be even better cause the weather is going to be awesome! Typically, you deal with the humid summer days. This time, the forecast is for 70's in the day and possible record low evenings (low 50's)! Cactus Jack also said JJ would be in town to run the sprinter. Combined with the old timers (this is a cool group of people), its going to be a great time! Oh, as for that Olson dude that promotes the joint, they dont come any better than that. His attention to detail is incredible. Promoters around the country could take lessons from him.
There's one other kicker too.....Ron Shuman will attend the race that now carries his name. If you should get to see him,
feel free to ask for an autograph, I'm sure he would be more than happy to to sign anything you have.
