USAC/CRA will honor ALL recognized race track or sanctioning body membership cards at this year's Louie Vermeil Classic in Calistoga over Labor Day weekend. Pit gate prices will be $30 for a member and $45 for a non-member. You must present a CURRENT 2009 membership card from the track or sanctioning body when buying your pit pass to receive the member price. To clarify this for everyone before they arrive, YOU MUST HAVE YOUR MEMBERSHIP CARD WITH YOU. A $30 pit pass is a great deal, but you must have a membership card. Secondly, USAC/CRA is offering a transfer pass to get from the pits into the grandstands. It will NOT allow you to go back and forth, but will allow those of you who like to go into the pits early and hang out with the teams and then go up in the stands for the races and sit with your family. We know that some tracks do allow you to go back and forth, but most pit areas are on the outside of the track and therefore you don't need to cross the racing surface to get to the stands. Another issue is that some people like to go into the stands and drink beer and then things get a little heated when the security guard won't let you back into the pits etc. With that being said, you can purchase the additional pass for $15 over and above your pit pass and at the same time you buy your pit pass. It will allow you to go from the pits over into the grand stands ONE TIME and at this time your PIT PASS WILL BE REMOVED from your wrist once you enter the stands. Pit crews will still be allowed to go back and forth to their race trailers to get parts etc. It is at the discretion of the security guard at the pit gate when it will be safe enough to allow anybody to cross the race track, so make sure you give yourself plenty of time to get across.
If you have any questions, Please call Tommy or Jeanie Hunt at Hunt's Race World at 916-863-7223. Please call soon since it will be hard to work things out the day of the race, and we would rather work things out now and have you enjoy your time at the races. Tickets are selling much faster than last year, so call Hunt's Race World and order yours today!

I only hope for USAC/CRA this is true and that Calistoga will honor the memberships at the pit gate if that is the agreement. We were there earlier this year in May for a 2 day show with the Golden State Challenge Series and our membership cards meant nothing. We were charged $40 for a pit pass same as a fan, there was only 1 price period for everyone. When we questioned Golden State officials about it we were told that the first day a mistake had been made at the sign in pit gate and that the 2nd. day we would be credited for the over charge and would only pay the difference. Well that never happened and we all paid the full pit entry for the 2nd. day as well. I'd get it in writing and have a sign made so that the Calistoga pit gate people know what the agreement is and how much it is going to be so this doesn't happen to you guys as well. Good luck.

To me this is still the most backward thinking thing out here. You have to pay twice to go to both the grandstands and the pits. I have said it before and I'll say it again, this is total BS. Calistoga is not the only racetrack in the country where people have to cross back and forth across the track but it is the only track that I have ever been to that has the balls to charge people twice.
Hell 2 years ago I was denied access to the main grandstand AFTER the races were over when the Outlaws were there because I didn't have a ticket to the grandstands. All I wanted to do was go over to the WoO trailer (that was still open mind you) but was told I couldn't enter.

The difference here is that USAC rents the track and can charge what they want for the pit pass. That being said, those promoting Calistoga could stand to take a look at what they are doing and how they are doing it.
Most folks don't mind following rules as long as the rules are consistent and known up front.
