10 midgets and 12 sprints at Salem??? Am I missing something here...or is the National deal dead and stinking? I know the economy is in the tank and car counts have been declining, but this is falls in the category of why bother. Some of the regional series seem to be holding on, but USAC as a whole seems to be in big trouble. As much as I dislike USAC, having the National program fail would be a huge blow to open wheel racing everywhere.

I think the problem for USAC's team owners and drivers is asphalt. Don't be surprised if the asphalt races no longer appear on the national schedule in 2010. USAC seems to be holding its own in the midwest, but not of course out here.

They've had two opportunities to destroy sprint and midget racing with wings in the 80's and starters in the 90's. Maybe it's time for some well meaning soul to build it back up so we can give them yet another opportunity. Sooner or later, they will succeed.

Can somebody answer this question for me? Is there an entry fee at each race for USAC or the track that they run at? I would think that USAC would want everyone to run with them and use some common sense and do away with alot of their BS.

If they used common sense, they wouldn't be USAC.
