Tulsa, Oklahoma (August 10, 2009) - The 2009 OCRS season is approaching the halfway point and several schedule changes have just been announced by OCRS officials that will push the season to a possible 16 events.
Mid-America Speedway in South Coffeyville has moved its Sept. 6 date to Sept. 4 and has added race dates on September 26 and October 17. A tentative booking at Enid Speedway Park will see the OCRS season end as part of the Enid Winter Nationals on October 24-25. More on this two-day show will come later as information becomes available. The September 5 show scheduled at 81 Speedway in Wichita has been cancelled.
There is still a lot of racing left in 2009. Click on the schedule link to the updated schedule

J/w why the OCRS doesnt have a little bit more races on it??

They run Outlaw way to much everyone hates the track due to the dirt on it. Always dry and dusty.

Mabe goto Batesville, AR, flippen,AR,Pocola,AR,West Siloam more,Springfeild,Mo,Monett,Mo

The reason the car count is never up is because they run outlaw to much and everyone says forget the running for points becasue they hate outlaw.

Come on lets step it up!!!!

one of the reasons they race at outlaw so much is they will pay the purse and none of the other tracks will

I've been under the impression that outlaw does not pay the normal OCRS purse. if i remember right - at Outlaw it's 750 to win - 150 to start.

It's rather benign to think it's just that simple for OCRS to go race in Arkansas and Missouri. I'm sure it can be done - but not that often. Just how many OCRS legal 360 sprints are there in AR or MO? So it's basically taking the Tulsa pack out there.....

It's been very clear what would be most beneficial to OCRS - that is running at Creek at least a couple times throughout the year. They have Caney, OMS, MAS, OSP, and WSS. And that's great. IMO - they really need Brill to step up and run em. Because like OSP (ada) it provides a great stage for OKC vs. Tulsa. And if run at Brill - the rivalry race could even be run on clay - as opposed to Ada - which is more like running a dry river bed during drought (sand, sand, and more sand). Plus that would be a huge positive for Brill - who needs to run more specials and reward his fans with a higher quality of racing. I think OCRS will always be a primarily NE Oklahoma series - but it would be cool all round if BMS would run OCRS maybe twice a year.

i agree with the Brill deal. i know Barry has been talking with them for the last 3 or 4 years and i dont know if he wont pay the purse or is afraid there wont be any cars or what...Barry has also talked to Lanny about running OKC. i think that would be a good show. 20-25 cars from OKC and OCRS and a few from meeker. there is a possible 40 to 65 car show for two-barrel sprinters....Brill would be a great place for a showdown too....OKC vs OCRS...the rules differences between the two have proven to not really matter...as for the purse at Outlaw, it pays 200 to start the main....up from 175 last year. it would be cool if OCRS could run twice a year at Brill, twice @ Creek, and twice @ OKC, plus all of the tracks we have now, making it an ALL Oklahoma series...

I agree.

What you describe at SFS - I don't think would be automatic. I don't think that many Tulsa area cars would come to SFS to run. Quite a few would - but I think it would be comparable to Ada's show earlier this year.

I also think that a "champ sprint nationals" of some sort would be pretty cool. With a sizeable purse of course. SFS really is the perfect setting for such an event - and I think if the purse was right and the race was promoted right - there would be near 60 champ sprints and plenty of fans there to see it.

Maybe run some USA Mods and sport mods along with it.

I still hold to the impossible hope that someday we could get cowtown promoter(s) Bo Rawdon and Darin Short up here to do a big ass show. They seem to be of a very rare breed of promoters that have the balls and initiative to try to run truly great shows. Put those guys at sfs - even for a weekend - and we'd have a big 360 nationals done on a smart weekend - and get 90-100 of em. along with 50+ champ sprints and maybe some mods or midgets too lol. And they'd find a way to do all this and it still be no more than 20$ admission.

If I may ask what is the payback purse for a normal ocrs show? I have never seen a payout on the ocrs web site or any where else 1st thru last and heats to.

i think that OCRS, the SMRS midget series, and the USA mods would make a great one- or two-day show. Brill would be perfect for all 3. as for the complete purse breakdown i cannot say exactly. you would have to contact Barry or Tom
