Mike Houseman Jr. received 1st and 2nd degree burns on his face and legs after a wreck at Knoxville on Saturday, July 25. Though he suffered inhalation burns, the swelling went down quickly and he was able to breath on his own early Sunday morning, July 26. He has been released from the University of Iowa Hospitals and is currently recovering at home. The biggest concern now is to keep wounds clean and prevent infection.
A recovery fund has been set up. To make a contribution send to Mike Houseman Jr. Recovery Fund, First American Bank, 4729 SW 9th Street, Des Moines, IA 50315. Their phone number is (515) 237-5139. Donations can also be made to any First American Bank in Iowa. Mike Jr. is receiving cards of well wishes at his address: 1007 E. Rose Ave., Des Moines, IA 50315, and here at the forum.
We want to thank all our friends and family in and out of the race community for their thoughts and prayers. This was about as scarey a crash as they come and we can't thank the Knoxville Safety Crew enough for their fast-action and outstanding work. You are the best there is! Please continue to pray and send well wishes Mo's way as he continues to recover.

Hi everyone. Thanks to all of you who have sent me cards and emails. I want to thank the Sprint Invaders also for their gift. It looks like I will be at the races on Saturday night, I'll be sitting in a suite and I really look forward to getting out of the house for a while!
I'm doing better. My days are basically filled with sitting on the couch, watching tv, trying to get sleep, and reading updates on the computer. Still have burns to my eyes and forehead but the swelling is pretty much gone. Burn on my knee is still there but healing up pretty good.
Thanks again to the safety crew, I look forward to meeting with them on Saturday.
Thanks guys,
Mike Houseman Jr.

Moe-Glad to see you are doing well! Horrific crash. As long as the cherries are in tact, sitting on the couch isn't a bad gig! You can keep the transfer spot! Take care lil buddy...Beef

Good luck on the recovery, that was a scary wreck. Were you wearing a head sock?
