There is absolutely no reason for Brooke or anyone else to have a torque tube smash their legs anymore and go through this. The track won't let a driver go out without a helmet why the hell don't they make EVERYONE have the torque tube tethered, or the safety loop installed, or both.
Did the joint break and that caused the injury? They make safety covers for that too!
Was any or the safety equipment installed?
I feel bad for the Tatnell's.....

Tough luck in the Tatnell camp, Sorry to hear this. I remember Flyin Ryan Jameson had a real similar injury just days before the Nationals back in the late 90's.

That was terrible Saturday night, I was really looking forward to seeing what he could do in that car.......No one else seems to consistent in it. He sure looked like he was in a lot of pain. Get well soon.
Btw....They announced at the track that it was a new design for a drive line....hopefully they scrap that....breaking on the first night like that

Brooke is haven a streak of bad luck. This will pass. Everyone of us who has driven a race car at any level goes through ups and downs. This will pass. Speculation on why this broke is anybodys guess. New parts brake. I spoke with the folks at DMI and was told it was standard stuff in that car. Brooke you are one of the best in my book. Keep your headup and get well soon. The sprint car world needs Brooke Tatnell. Amy if you and Emma need anything just call.

UPDATE* Brooke is home & resting and I can't say comfortably, he is in quite a lot of pain. I have read all the posts on the message board and emails to him and that cheered him up a bit. He has a long road to recovery but he is a fast healer! Thank you so much for all of the t-shirt orders. We have lots more so keep'em coming! Amy Tatnell

Well Brooke has certainly hit a low point in his career. Most drivers go through this at various times and the good ones always bounce back.Brooke is an outstanding talent and will soon be back doing what he does best.Get well mate.
