What a shame. Henry did good, huh. That car was getting tighter and tighter. It didn't want to turn in four and it wasn't coming out of two as well as it was earlier. He would have been right there at the finish.
I'm not shouting. I just can't get rid of this big type.

Still very proud of Henry. That restart was sick. He showed those guys that he is as good as them. Gonna see Clarke in the winners circle soon.

Clausen should have been looking at the back end of that red car when he crossed the line. Hard to believe no one tried the bottom late in the race. It must have been rotten.

Just noticed that only two cars ran a faster lap then Henry Clarke.

lol. I heard a pin drop when they announced Henry's name. Also think someone said, 'who?'
Go Clarke!
|
We get that a lot - but after a few more nights like tonight thats' going to change. Lead for 20 laps and that restart with Clauson behind him was perfect. Motor let go...but his first USAC win in the Dash was big. And yes - he was covered in power steering fluid so he skipped victory lane.Drove the dash with no power steering.

Thanks to all - a very good eye on the car tightening up. As the motor started to lay down he couldn't get enough power to the ground to free it up. He made a decision - 20 laps left on a motor that was about to grenade - do I blow the pistons out of the block or save the $'s and pull it in? He said had there been 5 laps left he would have tried it.

Henry was on the feature
race like a dog on a bone. When the motor starts to go there's just nothing to be done (except feel kind of sick). A smart decision to pack it in considering the alternative. He wasn't going to finish and he surely had nothing left to prove.
What's next on Henry's schedule?

USAC Sprints 8/9 Knoxville, 8/11 Oskaloosa, 8/15 Midget/Sprint double at Salem. Follow the USAC National schedule and you'll know where the team is running.
Belleville is his kind of track - get up on the fence and fly. He said his tires still had the tips on them when he pulled off. Keith and the guys gave him a balanced car. We think he's gonna love Eldora and we are all looking forward to coming back to Granite City.

Is Henry gonna ever run a winged race? I'm not a fan of them, but will watch if he does.
Also, Will he be in Calistoga in Sept?

No plans to run a winged car at this time; I think he would love the speed.
He really wants to run Calistoga this year, particularly in a midget. He's in Sun Prairie on 9/5 in a midget. The heat win the first night last year and racing Cardey for the transfer on Saturday was a blast.
