Hopefully we'll catch a break with the weather today! It's been a awhile
since the Vintage Modified Stock Car group has displayed cars in the grandstand area. We should see some former IRA cars in the mix as well!
We'll also have some representatives from the Southeastern Wisconsin Short Track Hall of Fame on hand! This will be a great oppertunety for anyone interested in finding information about how you can become a voting member of the Hall of Fame!
Long time IRA fans from the 60's and 70's may recall Pop Kline. Pop started racing Modifieds back in 1967. He was one of the original drivers who raced in the very first IRA season in 68. I'll have the 1968 IRA Drivers List posted at Wilmot tonight along with Pop's last Super Modified. The Grand Opening of the current track at Wilmot was supposed to be in 1972 but was delayed till June 9th 1973. Pop took the very first Checkered flag on the new track that night.
Tonight will definitly be a flash from the past for long time IRA fans. It will also be a great way for current fans to see IRA's roots. Should have dozens of pictures to view as well!
As usual Pop's car is availible to try on for size. Be sure to bring your camera's for snapshots in the car!! It's a bit tight though!!
Looking for contact information for anyone who ran with the IRA!
Hope to see all of you tonight at Wilmot!
