2nd Heat: 1) Chad McNamara 2) Robert Elliott 3) Nick Shenberger 4) Bob Mock 5) Randy Thomas 6) Landon Maddox 7) Hesston Shaw 8) Don Reed 9) Jack Taylor
Decker 1-5; McNamara 6-7; Ramey 8-15
Decker took off at the start from his pole position while McNamara, Raney, Elliott and N. Shenberger battled for position.....McNamara on the leaders bumper and challenges while Elliott makes it a three car battle by the second lap.....Then on lap four, Raney gets a run on the cushion up top and passes Elliott, McNamara and Decker and briefly takes the lead in turns three and four only to see those drivers retake positions.....Decker still holds on but on lap six his engine lets go in turn four ending his night and bringing out a caution......McNamara now at the point on the restart with Raney now in second and McNamara in third and Shenberger in fourth.....Thomas gets by Shenberger and McNamara on the restart in turns one and two down low but those drivers come out of turn two holding on to position......Two laps after restart, Raney finds the top to his liking and gets around McNamara coming out of turn two and quickly takes a five car length lead on lap eight.....With two laps to go, Elliott and Shenberger battle for third when the yellow appears for Shenberger who has a cut tire and restarts at tail of field.....The final two laps saw McNamara make a brief challenge but Raney held on for his first ever victory on a half mile track.
More race information and complete story will be posted on Sunday. I just want to say a huge public "THANK YOU" to all of those eighteen drivers and their families and friends who made the trip to Hutchinson for the Nationals and I do hope that all of you enjoyed your time. I am posting this here cause I know alot of these people read tidbits. I hate posting here because I want to try to keep my gig with NCRA and my baby (tidbits) seperate but you know what, there are those affiliated with tracks who do their deal on here so I don't see why I can't. That is why this site has been here since 1998 because people can post and help promote the tracks or series they are with.
Again thank you to all you sport modified drivers because without you this division would not be possible and would not be a huge success that it is and WILL be for years to come.
Don't forget the next event for the NCRA Sport Modifieds is next Friday night at Elk Citys I-40 Speedway. OKC drivers you are off next weekend so I would like to see you there. And drivers, if your going to be late and need us to draw you in, please call Chris, Jane Burt or myself and we will get you taken care of. We want to make sure everybody has a chance to race.
Thank you and more on the most exciting Hutchinson Nationals in all divisions in years to come.
David Smith Jr.

Great racing at the Hutchison Nationals, all the classes had real tight racing , and one of the largest crowds i have seen at a area racetrack in a long time, went to enid friday night was real dissaponted, no car count and a long dragged out show, with one lane race track , glad we all made the trip to hutch on saturday, and Congrats to all the winners over the weekend at both Hutch and Enid

18 sport mods to 33 in Enid and you say not a good car count. Any time you get 33 in one class and have to have 2 B features is a good night.

Jimmy, I don't think he was talking strictly about the sport mods. I think he was talking about the show in general. Hutch was 20 times the show Saturday that Enid was on Friday. Racing was good, and you could run THREE GROOVES! After running Enid here recently, including Friday, I was beginning to think a multiple groove track was a thing of the past, especially in Enid. I, for one, hope Enid can succeed, but you have to make the event a "show" for the fans. If anyone that reads this forum was at Hutchinson, then they would know what I mean by putting on a show. That was a fun time. Also, congrats to all the winners this weekend.

If he is talking about that you could be right, but I thought he was talking about the car count when he said there was not one. For only a 2 week notice and the ncra show the same weekend I thought it was a good car count with drivers from all over. But anyway your doing a great job in your car and glad to see it.

Friday I was home around 11:30 and live 15 miles away. And that was after putting up my head set and talking to a few people. Thought it was a great night. JMO.

1dirtracer , that is what i was talking about ,was the overall car count , come on 25 modifieds for a $3,000 to win , not real good , you want to compare car count with hutch, how about the modifieds enid had 25 for $3,000 to win,Hutch had 45 for $1,000 to win, and as far as being done by 11, hutch had a delay to life flight a racer out from a wreck in hotlaps and didnt get started till about 7:45 and had almost 200 total entries and a fireworks show and was done by 11:30, and since you like to compare is was also a $10.00 admission, i agree with 1dirtracer Hutch was a fun night of racing , very well run and was run like a entertainment venue, i would like to see enid make it also ,

I was right you were talking about car count. It's kind of like child support you never know what your going to git if any!!!! And the best part is the entry fee is free for a Suspended drivers license application.

no i was making a comment and you made it about car count, you come back talking about 33 in enid and 18 at hutch , i mentioned car count but didnt mention a paticular class, but if you think 24 cars is a good car count for $3,000 to win, what do you call 45 cars for a $1,000 to win.....anyway not on hear to argue with you ,was just making a comment which is what i thought a forum was for , i hope enid does get better , i hate to see any track not make, as i enjoy traveling to watch races, and i wasnt bashing enid i was just commenting on there show, compared to hutch,

It's all good. For some reason it all ways ends up working out in a great way. It's kind of like working in the department were the mail comes in and all ways knowing whats in side each envelope.
