Race Fans, You Asked For It, You Got It: $2000-to-win Cowtown Mid-Summer Midget Madness 8/22
Kennedale TX (7/22/09) by DarinShort.com. The race fans have spoken, and the high powered, full-sized midgets of the SMRS/USAC will converge upon Cowtown Speedway for an encore performance at the Cowtown Mid-Summer Midget Madness presented by National Health Care Advisors and Sunoco Race Fuels on August 22nd.
After a several year absence, the midgets returned to Cowtown Speedway this past February at the Cowtown Midget Championships, and played to a great crowd and the largest Midget field assembled in Texas in several decades. The result was wild wheel-banging, side-by-side racing, photo finishes and non-stop drama.
Similar action can be expected in this ‘Round 2’ of the raucous Midgets, when they roll into Cowtown Speedway and take on the wide, fast, ¼ mile high-banks. The 30-lap finale will pay the winner $2,000; and pays on down to $200 for starting the event.
Oklahoma’s Brady Bacon and Indiana’s Bryan Clauson took home the hardware in the February event. The Friday event left Missouri’s Brad Loyet seething, as Brady Bacon wheelied his way by for the win at the finish line, leading only the last couple of feet. Brad is expected to return to Cowtown for redemption at this event, and presently sits 2nd place in SMRS/USAC points. Current series point leader, Matt Sherrell, is also expected to be on hand.
Sprint car aces, including local favorites Kevin Ramey, Justin Melton and George White, will take on the touring foes of the SMRS/USAC in what’s sure to leave fans buzzing once again by the time the night is over.
Midget teams must pre-register at the track website by 8/17 to receive reserved space in the pit area. The pre-entry list will be published on the track website as the event nears.
Joining the Midgets will be the high powered Cowtown Modifieds, the lightning fast Winged 600’s, Limited Modifieds, Street Stocks and Bombers. A Bomber Powder Puff race will wrap up the night’s racing action.
Fans should plan to arrive early, as the pits will be open to ticket holders from 3:45-4:45pm. This will give fans ample time to walk through the pits and get an up close and personal look at the cars and stars before the races. The pits and stands will then officially open at 5pm, with hot laps at 6:30 and races at 7.
By clicking www.CowtownSpeedway.com you will see a link to this event, containing the event flyer, advance online ticket sales, directions and much more. There is also a link to the recap page of this year’s Cowtown Midget Championships as a refresher.
Advance adult tickets are just $15, with youth tickets $5 and kids $2. Small coolers (the size of a 6-pack) are allowed in the stands, but no glass containers are allowed.
Don’t miss this night of high-powered, rough and tumble action as the Midgets make their 2009 encore performance at Cowtown Speedway with the $2,000 to win Cowtown Mid-Summer Midget Madness on August 22nd.

Houston's Danny Burke has also entered the Cowtown Mid-Summer Midget Madness event on Saturday; which brings the advance confirmed entries to 22. It appears there may be 4-8 more yet to show by race time.
On the original date of the Limited Modified Cowtown Challenge, there were teams coming from as far away as Amarillo, Shreveport, Waco and Houston...until the rains came.
Not sure what 'invaders' may be coming this Saturday, but one thing is more certain:
The NWS is predicting some welcome rain overnight Thursday, then a break from the heat and rain for the weekend, with clear skies, temps in the lower 90's at race time and currently a 0% chance precip.
PS:
The pits will be open to ticket holders from 3:45-4:45 on Saturday. That means: 1. If you bought your ticket online, just go to the ticket booth and they'll let you in. OR 2. If you want to buy a ticket at 3:45, the ticket booth will be open so then you will be 'a ticket holder' and you can proceed to the pit area.
The pit gate will be open until 4:30pm then reopen when the pits officially open at 5pm.

As a warm-up for tonight:
If you'd like to see some video clips from last night's USAC/SMRS midget race from Crandall TX (8/21) please go to: www.youtube.com/user/DarinShortcom then click on the video links on the right side of the page. (It may be about 10AM CST before all of them finish uploading.)
There are 4 videos from last night's action leading up to the big Cowtown Mid Summer Midget Madness tonight at Cowtown Speedway. Click www.CowtownSpeedway.com for more info on tonight's race.
Also, I believe that www.PushinTheCushin.com will be having some sort of live remotes from the event, as they are sending a person down to cover it. Not sure what their exact plan is at the moment.

The midgeteers were too tough for the sprint drivers to tame tonight, as...
Missouri's Brad Loyet won a hard-fought battle to become the Cowtown Mid-Summer Midget Madness champion.
Pictures of the night currently can be found at:
www.CowtownSpeedway.com and www.PushinTheCushin.com with more to be available soon.
Video clips are being uploaded, and finished by Sunday morning at www.youtube.com/user/DarinShortcom
Official results will be posted when they become available at www.USACracing.com then clicking the midget link.
Thank you to all of the teams, fans and sponsors who helped to make this race possible!
