Sunday August 9, 2009 in Redwood Falls at Redwood Speedway will be the Dominic Bruns Memorial Race. Dominic was the son of Becky and Shawn Bruns (71d) and he passed away from SIDS at a very young age. Becky has started a non-profit organization that has provided sleep blankets to the Redwood Falls and Renville County hospitals for every newborn born there and she is looking to expand the program. An afternoon of events is planned. Before the races there will be a fundraiser for the organization that Becky has started. There will be a silent auction from 2-5:30pm, Whopper Feed from 2-6pm $5.50 for a whopper, chips and a soda, Pony rides for the kids from 2-5:30pm and we are also looking for race cars to be on display for kids and families to check out for the afternoon. It will be a great way for racers to meet their fans and for fans to meet their favorite drivers. A kids pedal car (a $450.00 value) will be given away during the intermission of the evening races with tickets being available at both Arlington and Redwood Speedway this weekend, next weekend and the day of the event. Free baloons for the kids and T-Shirts and Hoodies for sale.
And finally the best part. Racing starts at 6pm with a stock car special. Double pay for the top four cars in the IMCA Stock Car Class with $100.00 payout to top ten. 1/2 of the nights rent will also be donated by the Redwood County Fair Board to the Dominic Bruns Memorial organization.
