Nice pic ...but are you sure this was taken at Knoxville Iowa? It might be Knoxville Illinois but it sure doesn't look like Knoxville Iowa in the background and the fence.

Knoxville in 1979 certainly looks a lot different than today, this is just off of turn two with Little Duffer and the car wash in the background....

When did gloves become mandatory? Tom is a smart guy, why none on in this pic, hot laps or what? Just wonderin', Take It Easy....

It was hot laps for sure... in those days I went to the pits to take photos during hot laps and time trials and then went to the stands for the races.
I looked at another shot of Tom a couple weeks later and he did have gloves on then.

Thanks, thought it must have been that way. I started to sit in the stands at Knoxville on a pretty regular basis near the end of my picture takin' days also, glad I did! Take It Easy...
