Financially, that is. A couple of interesting comparisons.
1. It is more rewarding to START the A Main ($7,000) than to finish 4th in the Kings Royal ($5,500)
2. Finishing in the Top 6($15,000) is better than finishing 2nd in the Kings Royal($12,500)
3. Finishing 14th in the B-Main ($1,600) is better than starting the Kings Royal A-Main($1,550)
However, give Eldora credit, I believe they raised the purse in about every position after 4 for this years Kings Royal.

The World 100 is not the highest paying dirt late model race, yet it's by far the most prestigous. It is not money that makes a race what it is, it's a combination of things. I believe the Knoxville Nationals is without question the Crown Jewel of sprint car racing with the King's Royal a close 2nd. I absolutely love the atmosphere at the Royal though!

i have herd many drivers say they would still run the nationals if it payed nothing. they don't care about the money they want the trophy. ask a driver next time u can.

I'm not saying that to win at Knoxville isn't the greatest thing on Earth. However with the uncertainty in the fuel stop situation, will it be as good? Was there a "scheduled" fuel stop last night at the Kings Royal?

It was not scheduled. Just thrown in there so there was no question Donny would make weight. Didn't ever have to pass a single car to win. What a horrible format!
