I hear people always say that heavy fast tracks are harder on equipment. Friday night I saw more cars get tore up than I've seen in a while. I understand we're probably talking about two different types of equipment. Heavy is harder on motors and dry slick is harder on sheet metal/ right rears/ front ends/ nose wings/ nerf bars etc...

I see more things get torn up on the dry slick tracks than the fast heavy ones. Plus all the spin outs aren't fun to watch all night either. Now, dry slick tracks make for better racing, hands down. Plus, once the track takes rubber it gets bad fast too. So there are positives about both. But I'll take the tacky flat footin it around tracks any day. This is my opinion from the stands.

The deal is Motors usually cost more than any chassis stuff. The reason you see more sheet metal get tore up is that SFS Drivers dont get that many opportunities to drive on dry slick because SFS rules really only apply there. It takes patients, a good foot and a good set-up for Dry Slick. On tacky anybody can stand on the gas and if you got the bigger motor you'll be somewhere up front. Driving talent and quality set-up is not properly represented on a tacky track. {IMHO}

I'm confused about track conditions. I've spoken with a lot of veteran racers who raced at Lawton and they tell me that when they raced the track was always tacky and it was very unusual for it to be dry. I have heard it said that anybody can drive on a wet track and that a quality set up is not needed, if that's the case why do I see so many cars push off the turns? I also hear that a heavy track is harder on a motor, so why not spend a little more money on the motor instead of on graphics? after all it's not a beauty contest. Just my opinion.

If ur talking about fri the 3rd. That was not a slick track. That was rubberdown follow the leader. Thats why u saw bad racing and follow the leader. A dryslick track is fun to watch and race.....Like Whit in the heats....No passing but he put On a show and made it look easy. U had to like seeing that!
