Not sure that a lot of people caught this...but it was announced Saturday night that this coming Saturday, July 4, will be the Twin Features Night for the 360 division at Knoxville. The 410 division will have their twin features the next week as scheduled.

Ahh sorry about my earlier post. I guess I can be wrong every once in a while!
I did not know this as I missed Knoxville to watch the dad and brother do some micro sprint racing in Brooklyn,IA.
So is this a hook to try and keep the 360 guys at Knoxville instead of West Liberty? I personally know of 2 still going to the Invaders race.

No problem at all. I didn't think many people realized this and the ones that did hear it found it hard to believe. I certainly can't speak for Cappy and why this was decided. But my belief is that it had nothing to do with West Liberty. I'm not even sure he knew that was going on. I believe it is to try to get more fans at Knoxville and to try to keep the shows from going too late. We are also having 305s this week.

The sprint invaders run plenty of Saturday night events...Their points guys, for the most part aren't kville 360 guys. Kville is not trying to keep cars from going to West Liberty...( I know, for some reason on this idiotic board, Kville has become the evil empire)...I guess my question is this...twin features or not your not gonna get many Kville 360 cars to not show and run a sprint invader race on a Saturday...Now..if the West Liberty race where on a Friday ???? hmmmm...you might get 10 or so of the Kville guys...hmmmm...maybe they really don't want a whole lot of the Kville boys coming...just a thought..

Friday night shows have been tried in West Liberty occasionally....they ALWAYS fail to draw enough crowd to pay the bills. Just like any (non-Nationals) weeknight in Knoxville is a tough sell.

Sorry Bump, but I find it way too hard to believe that if they had this show on Friday, July 3, the crowd would be any less than it will be on Saturday. First of all, they'd get a lot of the people like me...those of us who live in Eastern Iowa but are committed to Knoxville. And there are getting to be more than just me finally. I think I've converted a few over my 30 some years now. Plus there are a couple of the teams that I work with in the Cedar Rapids area that would add to the car count. I know what you're saying...I know the history too. But I think this being a holiday weekend that a Friday show would draw the crowd. Most of all, I think the Sprint Invaders belong back at the Muscatine County Fair. That brought the biggest crowds anyway because of our great fair. Many people came over from the Knoxville/Des Moines area and brought their families because there was so much more to do than just go to the races and go back home. A Friday night show at the fair, now that concerts have gone downhill, would be the perfect venue.

A Friday show during the Muscatine CO Fair would be optimal, no doubt about it! But I am sure that the Beatles tribute band will be more cost effective for the bottom line, they probably cost about a quarter of what a Sprint Invaders show will when you factor in purse and insurance.
Ironicly the Holiday weekend would probably take away from the crowd this year. So many towns are having their fireworks show on Friday the 3rd that Simmons Promotions has cancelled their weekly Friday night show in Farley. I am sure that the Sprint Invaders would put more butts in the grandstands than the stock cars have every time they try to run on a Friday in West Liberty, but unfortunately I don't see that as being enough to break even. Just too many other entertainment options to draw the crowd away from the racetracks normal operating night.
