Lanny/Charles

C Y C L O N E 50 Lawton Speedway

After all is said and done , the racing at LS has been really good this season. This is what I like to see at LS.

Last night the track was changing alot, but the racing couldn't have been better, especially in the modified races.

The Fireworks were great !! My granddaughter got to see her first Fireworks last night, it was a great show, thanks Charles.

All the racers and their teams were on top of their game last night, it was a huge crowd. With the fireworks and the fast side by side racing, it was a show well worth the price of admission, hell even the cheeseburgers tasted better....

Their will be even more Fireworks for the 4th...wow....two fireworks shows ....in one season,,,one week apart.....and The Cyclone 50 ! WoW !!

Keep it up LS, this is great racing.

Thanks

MM

Good racing!? Hell, the track was only one groove, anything above that was marbles. The entire group that was around me was bitching all night about the track, and to tell ya the truth I wasn't so impressed either. Anybody can make a dry track as bad as last night, just go out at 6 o clock and run the water truck over it. Biggest waste of $12. I'd a had more fun watching the NASCAR race at home on my DVR. At least the fireworks were nice.

Sorry dude.....we had a great time and some of the best racing of the season last saturday.

It was a very tricky track for sure, but there was more than one line, you just had to fell around for it.

The fireworks were the best, unless you have some you want to shoot off at my place to entertain my granddaughter with?

Big waist of money? 12 bucks? oh....I get it.....you had somthing better to spend it on, like your satellite DVR bill so you could watch Nascar Rain out again and give the race away to Non-winners.

All those around me were having a great time. Of course any time outside at the track is a good time for me and mine. Not to mention the other racers and crews around us.

The temp dropped, the breeze blew and the racing was great. Relax and enjoy the moment my friend, its dirt racing at its best, I dont know where your 12 bucks could buy you a better experence, well at least in good ol L-Town that is.

IDK if we were even at the same track!! I left after the sprint feature out of shear boredom. I didn't see any passing after the modified makeup feature, save for people rooting people out of the way off the bottom. I have been to lawton speedway many times, and have even raced out there. 99.99% of the time that the track is dry out there (especially when it dries out with the rapidity that it did Saturday) the only groove that can be used is the bottom. Sure there may be that .01% of the time that it stays multi-grooved, but I have only seen that during winter nationals with both sprint car classes present. When I have seen lawton speedway really racy is when there is moisture from top to bottom, with the cushion shoved out to the edge of the bank. Probably the only saving grace is that they have quit moving those loader tires out to the edge of the track like they used to do, because that is where I saw some passes occurring. The people around me were wanting to hang Lupi and/or hotwire the watertruck all night long (my feeling was that they were leaning towards a little bit of both), but I am glad your bunch enjoyed it.

I would think with a screen name that starts with sprint car you must like follow the leader racing. If you would have stuck around for the mod feature you'd have seen one of the best races of the year. Not tryin to be an ass just haven't seen a sprint car race worth watching since ASCS last year.JMO

If you are kicking up dust in the hot laps there is going to be a no passing in the features. the track was dry and dusty and freight train racing all night. I will give it one more try Sat. If it's not better I will only go to ASCS races

Okay......

Well there were more lines than some would like to believe. I guess it just wasn't worth it to try a line that no one else had tried......so you get follow the leader.........but there was some damm fine side by side in the mod race...bar none...so stop your whining......

I'm putting a $5 fine jar up for Whinning about the dust.....you may pay as you leave.....the jar is by the gate.

Heck.....if it were too wet..everyone would complain about the heavy track and the mud balls flying around the stands.........Geech.....

Dust ? ahhhh its a dirt track 'man' !! ...much better.

Gofast, I have already made up my mind. Last weekend was the last time that I am going out there this year. If I had been prepping the track, I would have left as soon as hotlaps was over, I would be embarrassed. Mad Mike Burch, I know that there are some tracks that are good as dry slick, but Saturday night was not one. If they had started watering at 4 o clock instead of 6 o'clock, the track would have slicked off all the way to the edge and would have been a good track. Instead, the track went dry during the opening ceremonies, while the track was still one groove, leaving one and a half grooves of hard dirt with everything else being a loose powder. Good track it sure wasn't.

PS: Gofast, don't go this weekend, the track will be dustier than shit on Saturday, modified special.

Don't let my playfulness deter you from the dirt. I didn't know you were so serious about the topic.

I have always found that there is so much more to be gained by doing than by talking. May I suggest that you approach the promoter and maybe Lupi with your ideas before Saturday. Its easy to coach from the stands, go get your hands dirty.

Otherwise I guess your doomed to the Cee-ment with Stewart20 in Altus, hope you like black tire rubber and carbon dust laced with any number of chemicals from Chem-Tech.

coach from the stands?

um.....Mike.......unlike you - "Mr. Sprintcar" actually races. And since he does - and you don't - I think he has a voice that is a bit more trustworthy in the matter. And whereas his opinion may not be the final word - the FACTS lend more than enough credence for him to be taken more seriously and not dismissed with the usual "fan in the stands" bullshit, and also it's quite above another one of your all-to-frequent REDNECK DR. PHIL spin sessions.

Not only does Sprint77 go get his hands dirty (which I am sure every week you do as well) - he actually goes out and slings it too (again - you don't). If you want to find a way to fracture his opinion like you do most others - you would do well to take a different approach.

another thing mike - it is incredibly poor taste to run through every other track's advertisements and inject your link bullshit into it. Just put a thread up for yourself/ Cyclone 50 - and keep bumpin it up throughout the day as I am sure you one of very few who actually will hawk this forum ALL DAY.

You are even goin about your promotion of the Cyclonce 50 like you do most other things......a DICK!!! let all the threads be and for the wanderer who does not know where he is goin yet saturday - he will pick and choose. And if he picks Lawton - it won't be because you were undercutting other fella's threads....it should be because you kept your OWN at the top.

Hit a nerve ....huh?

Well sorry bout that Cody.....dint get them long handles in a bunch..... I was trying to make a point not trying to offend anyone. No offence now, but try getting off your buttocks and running a few cars in the pits and checking on all the sponsored rides all night, and still work in a few minutes of race action. This has to be a labor of love cause the pay sucks. LOL

I don't have to prove anything to you or you to me for that matter, suffice to say I have more laps on dirt than I care to admit, and chief-ed and teched half as many more cars and races across the mid-west and southern-plains and now sponsoring rides at LS, xx. and xxx, and xx and with a little thing called xxxxx and with SouthPoint which is my Flagship Co.and sponsorship hub for Sponsorship rides in the asphalt series on east coast and xxxxxxxx, where I will be for a while after the 4th. Thats all your going to get, so no questions about it. Not soliciting sponsorships or discussing them in mid-season and as of date no contracts are coming open any time soon, sorry guys.

Why Lawton You ask ? I retired here after 23 years in public service. I grew up here at Lawton and at the Lawton Speedway. My dad raced here and so did my grandfather who got his start way back on the east coast racing Hudson Hornets and Jets with an in-line six with twin carbs. This is my Track of my childhood memory and as such I just love being out there mixing it up on Saturday Nights and helping my friends and sponsored rides. I have many friends who I make a point of visiting with and two weeks ago we had a feed for everyone, ( we will do it once more before the season ends guys).

As far as me Hijacking and Hawking......call it what you want. I simply put the word out with only a link in most cases. Who cares, if they want they can put a link on any thing I post. It was just a link, as I didnt post the entire graphic, That would have been rude and a Hijack for sure.

Its was not about promotion, its was about letting the racers know whats going on, where, when and how much etc etc letting them have as much info as possible. ( As well as the Fans)

I popped the link in as a point of reference for anyone who might need it. Anyone. I would appreciate a link on any thread that would lead me to anything that was related to the topic at hand. With money being what it is these days, we need to look at all our options and try to get the best bang for our buck. So those that were looking for that bargin Race Trip need any info available to use. Sorry if I offended anyone. It surly was not my intention.

YOU know my feelings about NAME CALLING Cody. That was not called for. Try expressing yourself with a little less emotion and more substance.

How about everyone who dislikes Lawton Speedway; for what ever the reason, just kiss our backsides and not bother to post a negative about our place any more.

Move on to another target for your hate and negative backlashing promotion of the track.

Lawton Speedway is our track, our town, and we try to make it the best that we can every Saturday

There are lots or reasons to like us. We are a community of Racers and Fans just like any other community. As such I believe all these folks deserve respect and respect for the track they support..

There are alot of fine racers who race here at the Lawton Speedway and we have some great volunteers who come out in the heat to help make it all happen.

There are Loyal fans and fan families with children playing in the gravel in-front of the stands, and high schoolers working their first jobs at the concessions, and friends meeting in the reserved section to have that first beer as they toast their favourite driver who's packing the track. after Lanny yelled at him.

The tireless 50/50 girls and guys hawking them 50/50 tickets up and down the stands so that the drivers have a jackpot to race for.

The Brave photographer who seems to have supper human ability to dodge every out of control race car that comes his way.

The Cox Store EMTs on their hot rod 4-wheelers who roll out to to every crash to patch us back together and their Fire Department Fire Truck Fully manned who bring all those little fuel fires quickly under control and do a fine job of flipping them roll overs back on all fours.

The tractor and push car drivers who are always forgotten on the side line, but are ready to push you at a moments notice or pick your broke butt up and deliver you to the pit, whom never ever get a Thank You,

The Flagman who has the job of knowing which flag to wave at any particular point in the race and try his damest to keep track of who the leader is so he knows who to drop the checker on, who never gets credit for a job well done, but gets all the blame for what ever went wrong or who thinks it went wrong !

Officials, often more than likely, former racers, who dodge in and out of the race traffic trying to get a handle on some of the hardest racing race car drivers in this sport. The ever friendly one finger wave, the I will ignore you, to the stop and argue, its a thankless job and pays even less.

All the ticket sellers, money counters, and gate monitors, all stay on assigned post without a break till the show is over, hell most folks wouldn't stay put one hour, let alone the 4 or 5 that these behind the scene wonders do.

The security guards, on duty in the stands and in the pits. What a job, no one wants to see them coming everyone wants to see them go, but when your mouth wrote a check your butt can't cash, your darn sure glad to see these guys coming. They keep a lid on the tempers and allow the rest of us to race without further interruption.

Lawton Speedway is much more than just a Dirt Track, its our Saturday Night Home of which most are proud of. We are one big Family.....and as is the case with most families....we fuss and fight about little things here and there but we all come back in the end to support each other. We like newcomers and try our best to make new visitors welcome.

If you dont like Lanny........not our fault......

If you dont like the track conditions........not our fault.....

If you dont like the calls..........not our fault.....

If you dont like the pay out.........not our fault.....

You rarely if ever hear anyone from Lawton Speedway or Lawton defaming or complaining about another track or the tracks promoter or the track conditions, or the town where the track sits etc etc..........

So why dont you all who love to hate Lawton Speedway just back off once and for all.....we are getting tired of it.....real tired of it all.

I think all the dedicated workers and Racers here at Lawton Speedway deserve more respect than some have afforded them here on Tidbits It's their track!!

I think the Fans deserve to have their track respected and themselves respected for being Loyal Fans of the Lawton Speedway.

So back off OKCFan, no one jumped into your backyard and took a pooh, you dont even have a dog in this fight.

You jump at any chance to defame this track and anyone who might defend her. You and anyone with a like agenda need to deal with some anger issues and direct them in a more productive way, leaving the Lawton Speedway be.

Here is a little something from me to you ............cry baby !

Dang MM u like to create drama huh ... I am wondering why you insist on downgrading anyone that does not have the same opinion as you everytime? This forum would be really boring if everyone asked you first what they could feel or see and by the Sprintcar77 if you are who I think you are ... You won the Supersprint race tonight at SFS and obviously did a great job at racing so I for one hope you will come back and sit in Lawtons stands again you know what it is liek to be a driver not just like me a spectator and Yes I said it I said I did not and do not know everything since MM does that is enough on one forum. NOW LETS GO RACING and Get over the BS games

Sorry I dont agree with you on many subjects. As stated before I dont always hook up to the accepted train of thought, I actually think for myself and that often means I can see other view points outside the status quo. Sometimes you can be too close to the dirt to see the track !

That being said, wouldn't the world be a boring place if we all agreed on everything?

Allow me my opinions and I will allow yours. That dont mean I will allow it to go unchallenged if I disagree and visa versa on your part.

Goodluck and see at the track.

Mad Mike,

I love Lawton the same way you do, from my childhood. Although I like your solid enthusiasm, you could try to avoid pissing these people off. After all, OkC and other out of town racers BRING IN the spice that place needs time and again.

As for not liking Lanny, well.... Lanny has reach into many tracks, influence like most would not be aware of. It is hard to outrun Lanny Edwards. If he doesn't run the track, they listen to him if he speaks.

By the way, Lanny Edwards made me a lifelong fan. No one agrees with everything he chooses to do, but he be what he be.
