My personal opinion is that this guy did the right thing. The fans came out to see a race and he gave it to them. This is why our local tracks are disappearing!

The City of Mason City may find themselves in a bit of a pickle here yet as the Iowa Attorney General has ruled before that city ordinances like a noise curfew do not apply to County Fairgrounds or the race tracks located at the fairgrounds which is the case here. At the least, Ringsdorf will have his $300 given back to him and will have a free pass the next time. I have been told that the Mason City City Council is all bucky that they haven't gotten anywhere with the Fair Board about the noise issue so they went this route........dumb, dumb, dumb idea. It's about time the racetracks have been on the good side of this issue.

It didn't help Midwest Speedway. The promoter tried working with the city and the people who moved into a neighborhood built by the track. After 2 years or so of fighting the promoter let the land go back to the owner, closed the track and now it's a Wal-Mart, Sam's Club and other store megaplex.
Now, how ignorant do you have to be to move within 1/2 mile of a dirt track knowing full well that they race there every Sunday night if you dislike noise? And how much chutzpah does it take to then turn around and complain about the noise??
I am lucky enough to work at one of the best tracks
anywhere.

i have thought about the concert thing and the noise as well. on the deal about moving close to an existing track i have always thought that the track should find a way to work with the city or county and the real estate people to have the people who are moving in sign something that states they are aware of the track being there and what the noise limits are and what the track schdule is.
to indy and beyond!!

In Sydney, Australia we cannot land planes after 11pm at the Countries biggest airport because of noise restrictions brought on by people who moved in after the place was built(early 20th century).Smart, you buy cheap because its near an airport/racetrack then bitch about the noise.
