Cubic, you forgot to add Billy Pauch, Cris Eash, Joey Allen, and Billy Brian Jr. on your list. You could also point out that Jeff Shepard, PJ Chesson, and Jason Johnson all beat the WOO in Posse rides. To take it even further, this list doesnt even count prelims which would only add to the total of Posse victories against the Outlaws! Go Brian/Cris!

Then the are guys who raced here for many years before joining the circus, including PJ Chesson, Lee Osbourne, Rick Ferkel, Brian Paulus, Jimmy Edwards, Dub May.Just adopt Mulligan standards and claim them as displaced posse who temporarily lived out of a van.

The Gman and many other Posse Drivers have won prelim nights against a "non split field" which counts every bit as much in Nelligan's book...unless he is revising that part of history too?

Singlefile, Please hijack it, we're going in circles and your Posse pals don't seem to get my point, lol. I bartend part-time at the local Harness track and have been a horse fan for many years. I prefer the Standardbred vs. Thoroughbred type of racing which means I should prefer non-wing over winged, but I don't. I have been to racetracks all over Canada and Australia and a half dozen in the US as well, heck I've been to the doggies for what it's worth. I like competition and the social aspect of racing, all types appeal to me. I have been fortunate enough to know people in both fields and they are some of my better friends and heck the only booing you hear at the horses is when yours doesn't get the job done. I frequently watch/wager on Dover Downs one of the better harness facilities (it appears) in your fine country, some day I would like to get there and see Curt Michael along the way. Take It Easy....

I realize the only way a Knoxville local is going to get good enough to beat the Outlaws is to leave home like Wolfgang & McCarl (Weikert #29) or Lasoski & Herrera (Hamilton #77) and come and run a Posse car full time...I'm trying to make you realize it...lol.

I also like betting the Meadowlands when I go to Penn National. It seems like every race at the Meadowlands always comes down to a crazy 4-5 wide battle down the stretch. Just a personal observation, but it seems like the chalk rarely wins there as well. I really have not done any research, but it seems like they have more winners going off at 10-1 or 13-1 than just about any other place in the country.

I always like to see if Harrington (Del.) is running as well. I saw a couple dirt Modified races there in the early 1990s and they were pretty bad. I can't imagine what the WoO race there must have been like. I remember Johnny Herrera won and Kevin Eckert wrote that Herrera usually parlays pole starts on impassable tracks into WoO wins at least twice a year. LOL

Several years ago, I watched Clinton Potts ride regularly at Penn National. He was head and shoulders above the rest of the regular jockeys at Penn. For most of the year, Penn National really played up the fact that Potts was in contention to be the winningest jockey in America for the year (he ultimately finished second). Every time he rode at Penn National, the horse would go off at something like 8-5 or lower, whether it deserved to or not. I knew Potts moved on and was racing at Philadelphia and Delaware Park, but I was surprised a few weeks ago when I saw some simulcast races from Santa Anita and Potts was riding there.

Single, I can bet the Meadowlands at my home track here in London or on the net every night they race. I will be in Toronto tomorrow for the Canadian equivalent of the Meadowlands, called Woodbine, it's spectacular. If I get down your way again maybe I'll catch a few races with you at Penn or some simulcast place, would be fun. Take It Easy....

PS A decade on the road and a half dozen nights in the van (mostly Daytona) and I lived in it, sheesh, tough crowd. I visited over 200 libraries as well, in thoughts on that, lol.....

Mike, I first got into the horse races when I was about 14 or 15 (I am now 34). I started going regularly to Penn National in around 1986 -- initially for the auto races. Back then, the horse track used to race at 1:30 p.m. on Sundays. Every week, we used to go to the horse track in the afternoon, then walk next door for the Sunday night auto races once the horse races ended at around 5 p.m. It was really was a dream setup LOL

I was underage and betting the horse races at Penn, but no one ever said anyhting. I guess no one really cared about a kid making $2 bets. LOL When we would go to the horse track on Sunday afternoons, probably half the crowd there were auto racing fans that simply went next door once the horse races ended for the day.

Don't know if you ever saw an auto race at Penn National, but it closed in 1996, when the parent company moved the horse racing to Sunday nights. The reason for that was because there was far more money to be made through simulcasting the races in the evening than the auto racing track could ever generate. The auto racing track continued to deteriorate and waste away until it was finally torn down last year. Now, you would never even know that another track once existed on the property.

I am familiar with Woodbine, just from seeing it on simulcasts all the time when I go to the races.

I have an off-track betting parlor about 20 minutes away from me, but I rarely go. I would much rather drive 45 minutes and take in the racing live, just for the atmosphere and feel of being there.

Pennsylvania's big revenue push in recent years has been that slot machines are now going to be legal in the state. This is supposed to prop up the sagging horse track attendance figures and enable PA to compete with Atlantic City for gambling revenue. I am hoping that putting slots in at the race tracks doesn't ruin the experience of being there live. 

Slots/Simulcast are the 'Catch 22' for Horse Racing. When the Casino was put in here at my home track the revenues generated tripled the purses which brought a better class of horse to the track, the good news. However, with simulcast now you can bet at home or bet other tracks and the live gate has dropped considerably, the bad news. Another that I started to notice and comment on about 20 years ago was the lack of young people in attendance and that hasn't changed much either. I worry that as the old-timer, my age and up, starts to stay home more then 'LIVE' racing will continue to fade away. Heck, our track would almost be out of business were it not for it's ability to simulcast all over the country and some in the USA. We carry, simulcast racing from Australia and Japan here as well, the main reason is it keeps the bettors here longer and they can spend/lose more money in the casino, oops. My best buddy runs the bars/restaurants and I work some race nights and most of the shows such as the motorcycle show, the autorama, farm shows and many others, the perks are too many to mention and knowing some horseman hasn't been all bad either, hint hint, lol. If I get down there this year I will certainly look you up and catch some of the local flavor if you're interested, no Posse talk though, we both have that figured out, lol. Take It Easy.....

Hey Hawk...sorry I am always so slow to respond, I can't live on here like some do. As I have always offered for anyone here...You are always welcome here anytime.

Some funny things about this website...My battles on here are always for entertainment value only. Heck, I am going through a divorce, so this is the only place where I can get any attention (or occassional response)...LOL! Once that divorce stuff gets sorted out in April, I'll have a place with plenty of room for wayward race fans. Only thing is you may have to entertain yourself in the off hours as I am a working fool and seldom home. By the way...Cardington, as Power Slave mentioned is very close. I just reffed there a few weeks back.

Also funny that while I have met people from all over the country as a result of this website (something I have enjoyed immensely) I have not yet met the Powerslave...AND HE LIVES IN THE SAME SMALL TOWN AS ME!!! how weird is that.

Singlefile....A few years back I was in posse country to do a four day weekend of racing and the Thursday Susky show I was hoping to see got rained out, I went to Penn National because I too like the ponies and gambling is a favorite way to pass some time. Unfortunately, the place was closed because the day earlier a track worker was killed by the starting gate or something to that effect, so I merely wound up shopping at Bass Pro Shops and fixing steaks in the Grove parking lot. I'd still like to get there sometime, but not at the expense of another PA rainout. Scioto Downs in Columbus is a fave of mine and it seems like everytime I go to KC it rains out and I wind up at the Downs.

Bob, I tried to meet up with ya at eldora last year but you weren't answering your cell phone. I'll be at the attica opener on the 31st. I'll try to get ahold of you up there as long as the weather cooperates.
