Yes and I'm convinced the only reason Esh was able to stay up front so long was because he had so little fuel in the car and ran out right before the caution came out. Thus the car was lighter the whole race. The caution for rain came out at the right time for him. But you have to admit, it was a smart gamble.
|
Better get your facts straight first there buddy ! There was enough fuel in the car . It just wasn't picking it up because the pickup was bent from a flip a few weeks before the Open .

The advantage at the Grove for local drivers is so much more than for Knoxville locals. The Grove is a paperclip with relatively flat corners, whereas Knoxville is one of your high-banked half-miles. The PA drivers know the track so well and the outlaws don't because they don't run there every week. Put a track that is an exact image of the Grove in any state and the outlaws would have a tough time, as long as the track had a weekly show.
|
They did take the banking out ofd Knoxville before the Nationals last year? That was my first visit to Knoxville and I certainly WOULD NOT say it is high banked. That is just funny .

In the Knoxville WoO results , I see 17 PA regular drivers / cars that won . That's better than Knoxville regulars ? Hmmmm. I think out of those 17 wins , only three (Stevie Smith / Hamilton - Stevie Smith / Smith) were by a driver / car running the WoO season in the same year. I think I'm correct ?

Ok just a note. When I originally posted what I did, It belonged way up front. I've been having problems on this site. anyone elses like skipping a day to post?
Toughest place for the Outlaws to race against regulars is PA. I agree with that. I also agree with the statement that PA has trouble going elsewhere. I think those are fair statements and don't understand why no one sees it as that simple.

Attention all Knoxville regulars and future regulars: Starting this year will you all agree to never leave Knoxville during your driving career no matter how good you
get and no matter what WoO offers come your way
so we can start building a database on Local track / driver vs WoO statistics and maybe settle this
once and for all in about 10 years from now.
Terry and Kerry: Maybe you guys could pledge loyalty to Knoxville and come back and help us get a jump start on the record?? Crap you guys already have WoO wins so I guess you are now exempt. Oh well..

Racefan 227, my original views and observations which started around 1995. I have been voicing them on the net since 1996. Bottom line, some people don't deal with the facts very well, oh my. My other comment to complete the trifecta years ago was that the Grove was America's Slowest Half Mile (where sprints are regularly raced, lol). It's all good folks, what matters the most is the tip I have in the first race at Western Fair Raceway tonite, if it comes in, then it might be handsome enough to even hit PA again this year, lol. Wouldn't that be special?
Steve V. I have laid down my camera for a living, I may shoot a few shows this year to supply a few people to keep in the loop a wee bit. I am happily semi-retired in Canada getting ready to start a new life with many changes in it, stay tuned. Take It Easy....

Trifecta? you referring to the POSSE PODIUM SWEEP?
it only happened 1 time in WoO history...pounded by 3 locals...running for 4th!

i don't really give a crap how much they are in debt. (lets make it clear it is dirt in total that is in debt and a lot of that has nothing to do with woo it just falls under the same umbrella) unless they are dirt stock holders i doubt most people give a crap as well. they could fold up and roll away tomorrow and we would all just find another place to race. but untill that happens i am willing to give them the benifit of the doubt.
|
Its the sprint car division that has the debts, the other divisions are keeping DIRT a float.

Johnny Herrera ?.. BBR, Yes, he had a win but how long was he a regular ? I know he was a regular at Manzy because I saw him come up and I know he had some good years with the OutLaws but I guess I lost track of him. How long did he run there?
Thanks Kenny

After the WoO Johnny had to race the under lock and key program for a while.

Thats not much of a answer, you especially mentioned his name as a home boy in your debate. How long?
I've seen him run with USAC/CRA, SCOA, and the Outlaws in the last year, he still gets around pretty good.

If you had enough fan following to build three or four more tracks in the area and run 100+ times a year instead of 30 they probably would... Going to a twelve car inversion would probably be a little bit too much to ask however... Fans out there in corn country probably couldn't handle all the excitement...

From Circle Track & Racing Technology, June 2006 Issue in an article by Larry Jewett- A list of # of dirt tracks in each state in the U.S.:
Pennsylvania- 48
Iowa- 50
Iowa wouldn't have to build tracks to run sprints on more of them.

The Midwest is a hotbed for Late Models, Our "powers that be" strategically plan how many Sprintcar tracks to run and how often so as not to over produce future World of Outlaw stars.
