TULSA, Oklahoma (May 23, 2009) - Mother Nature has not been too kind to the Oil Capital Racing Series this season. Rain forced cancellation of the season opener on March 17 at Outlaw Motor Speedway. The season did get underway on May 9th at Mid-America Speedway in Coffeyville, but just a week later the threat of rain forced the Ada show to be postponed. This past Saturday rain struck again as the show at West Siloam Springs Speedway.
Now a double header is on tap this coming weekend to make up two of those shows. Friday the OCRS returns to Outlaw Motor Speedway for a 7:30 show then on Saturday it is on to the Oklahoma Sports Park in Ada to make-up the May 16 rainout of the Harold Leep Jr. Memorial race, vintage car show and reunion.

If it hadn't rained, AND if I hadn't made a few enemies getting this thing to happen, we could have been close to 20-25 cars. I am so glad I never asked for a dime on this deal, I have a clean conscience-----This is for an honorable man, and I had to do this in an honorable fashion with what there was truly to work with. Lot of chiseling down separating the talkers from the do'ers.

Last check showed 10 vintage cars. KEEP IN MIND, there are still a lot of cars being built and the economy has slowed them down( 3 seconds of thought brings to mind 8 more cars out there).

I lost 5-10 due to a breakdown in communications with 2 well known collectors and that spread to a third, maybe more.

I lost 4-5 more due to rescheduling- Kansas has a 2 day weekend up there.

BUT WE AIN'T DEAD! I have 2-3 more cars I want to get out there in the coming years, I know of several that will be coming or will be sold to someone that will bring them. There has been a lot 401k money invested in this deal, we love it too much and this is our chance to bring them out as a group, too late to turn back now.

We're gonna cowboy up and move forward with 10 cars expected.

Come out, support, and let's build the buzz as a group. Vintage cars for the eye candy, race cars for the chips on the table. A kickass combo in my opine. Just takes time to build. We need the modern world, and they could use us.

I also want you to keep in mind that there are A LOT of people quietly watching this deal, some with cars or strong interest we haven't even heard from yet. Once I figured out there was as much as there is between Kansas and mid-Texas, 40-60 projects and growing, I stopped hunting too hard and focused more on getting my own car ready. The potential is definitely there.

I made a very important call yesterday about next year, he was somewhat surprised I had his number, yet interested in what we have here. I know..........and he will know...........that he could use us as an option for his deal. It would take an entire book to explain all the things going on and why, in the process of bringing this movement to fruition. The trick is to see past the zeal, and see things for what they are. It's real.

I know one thing about this racing community, people don't forget. I was screwed out of stuff years ago and haven't forgotten either. Hard to lose a grudge.
