While the makeup date would not be my first choice it will work, those that want to race it will be there.

What i question is the format of this race that was not mentioned until race day. Top 14 in passing points locked into the A, 4 from the B feature(s), then 2 provisionals to the highest lawton points cars not qualifying? If they cant qualify they should not race. I can see one promotors provisional and start 21 cars, but 2 and only start 20 cars? Id be willing to bet that the 2 cars being left out from the B features would dust the Lawton Cars that will get the provisional. Will it stop cars from coming probably not cause if they want to race in it they will be there, but i sure would hate to be one of those cars left out from the B features.

On another note, maybe next time they will get the gate open at the time advertised on the flyer not 30 min late, then as cars are pulling in have some lady on the intercom screaming for cars to pack the track.

USMTS shows do the same provisionals as Lawton was doing for this show. Why not support the people that support you all year instead of somebody that shows up for 1 night. Example the first heat that was to be run Sat. had Alan Sharpenstein, Randy Timms, Stanley Reed, Chris Cole, and Lucas Steele, one of those guys was gonna be startin on the back of the B and all of them are good enough to be in the A. Chris was supposed to start behind all of them I believe.

I agree with supporting those who support you week in and out. All I was questioning was the number of cars qualifying. USMTS qualifies 20 cars from heat races and B features and tags 4 provisionals on the back for a total of 24 cars when the car count is 40 cars or less. When they have 41 cars or more they qualify 22 cars from heat races and B features then tag the 4 provisionals on the back for 26 cars. Is Lawton big enough to start that many cars? I don't know for sure, but with the caliber of drivers that were there, I would bet they could handle 24 cars starting the A.

I don't have any problem at all giving out provisionals to Lawton points guys, but qualify 20 cars from heats and B features and tag them on the back to make 22 cars. I know it was a long shot for us to make the show, but I would have hated it if we ran good enough to be one of the first left out. This was no way meant to rag on Lawton, I think the Oklahoma tracks need more races like this and for this I commend Lawton Speedway.

Now that I took a moment to look at it, you'er right, it isn't directed to me !!

My mistake. Maybe I need glasses or could slow down a tad bit on the comprehension sessions.

You have a good day. Hope to see you at the 50 on the 4th.

I would show up and sit next to him !!!

I understand that a lot of folks have family plans for the 4th, back yard cook outs, lake trips, and all the kiddies with sparklers, but not everyone.

Racers, Racers families, and the Fans know a good race is coming and those that can, will indeed be there.

It seems that the schedule shows the Giant Fireworks display the weekend before the 4th, june 27th.

Hummmm, could it be that TIME was taken into account during the planing of the 50 for the 4th?

Further could it be that since LS gives its FANs the best show in the SW, it planed the fireworks for the week before so that everyone who had plans on the 4th other than LS, could see the Great Fireworks Display by Lupi and enjoy a full night of racing before the Holiday family events?

Try as much as possible to see the over all big picture as much as possible and soon the impossible becomes so much more possible that it actually happens !

We was told by the lady at the pay window / office that our pit pass is good for any race date this year at lawton or OKC. Hope that stands true.

Me too Kevin

Can't understand why you would have this make-up date on July 4th when they are plenty of special races on this date. JMO

Mike I think that is exactly why they are doing it.

Just as they were doing it on Memorial Day Weekend too. If they just ran a weekly show - and yet all the other tracks run specials - they run a risk of not having a very good show. By doing it on the 4th of July - they are ensuring to a degree that they have a decent turnout.

I think its incredibly sound logic on Lawton/Lanny's part. He is trying to keep his cars at his track - as well as draw in a few others from elsewhere. If pit pass/entry fee is still good (carries over) - and I'm almost sure it will..........thats very smart promoting on Lanny's part to set the 4th of July as the makeup date.

And to 20Stewart: oh yeah who could imagine something as completely absurd as going to a racetrack on the 4th of July! lol. god forbid there are actually be a racing event when you want to go play in the water....lol. There are/will be many race fans happy to see that event on the 4th of July - he wasnt just shooting for you - he's shootin' for all those who would rather see a good race than go play in the water - by all rights sunday and monday over memorial day weekend is when you go play in the water. July 5th - go play in the water. But damn whatever weekend - if its a friday or saturday and you have the means - get yourself to a damn racetrack. If he didnt do this - there would be many more people upset because most like racin' and fireworks - for many its a tradition. And for those who want to go play in the water - you can still catch a race. Duttons Speedway (right near Lake Ft. Cobb) will be running ASCS2 that weekend - so you could do all 3 - play in the water, pop fireworks, and see some racin'.

I'm just sayin' - it's quite an unreasonable stretch to think racing on the 4th of July a BAD THING!!!

How much would could a wouldchuck chuck if a
wouldchuck could chuck would
