World of Outlaws Sprint Cars At 8 p.m. Friday On SPEED: ‘Outlaw Showdown' Airs Live In Primetime
CONCORD, N.C. — May 20, 2009 — The primetime spotlight will shine on the World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series at 8 p.m. Eastern Friday as the Outlaw Showdown from The Dirt Track @ Lowe's Motor Speedway takes over the SPEED airwaves.
Led by the broadcast team of Bobby Gerould and National Sprint Car Hall of Famer Brad Doty, plus reporters Shane Andrews and Erin Crocker, viewers will have the chance to see many sides of the fastest winged Sprint Cars in the world as they battle at one of the premier dirt tracks on the tour.
Three-time and reigning series champion Donny Schatz is battling back and forth with 20-time champion Steve Kinser for the overall lead in the standings. Not only are Schatz and Kinser trying to best each other, they're also trying to hold off the other fiercely competitive World of Outlaws Sprint Car racers, including former champion Danny Lasoski, the Kasey Kahne Racing team of Joey Saldana and Craig Dollansky, Schatz's Tony Stewart Racing teammate Kraig Kinser, Californian Jason Meyers, 2009 Hall-of-Famer Jac Haudenschild, Western Tennessee's Jason Sides, Texan Sam Hafertepe Jr., former Pennsylvania Posse racer Lucas Wolfe and rookie contender Brian Ellenberger.
The broadcast will feature coverage that first-time fans will enjoy as well as those who have followed the series for more than 30 years, including the new “Quaker State 410 Insider” with Steve Kinser Racing crew chief Scott Gerkin.
Another new feature in 2009 World of Outlaws Sprint Car Series broadcasts will be the BR Motorsports Cutaway Car. The completely dissected Sprint Car gives viewers a never-before-seen look inside the machines and all of their components. Blake Robertson and his team have carefully cut away sections from the chassis to the shocks to the motor to reveal the inner workings of every aspect of a Sprint Car.
Make sure to tune into SPEED at 8 p.m. Eastern/7 p.m. Central to see “The Greatest Show On Dirt” take center stage during NASCAR's Charlotte race weekend.
