*Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial Highlights Weekend Races at Chico*

By Troy Hennig, Silver Dollar Speedway Media Relations

*CHICO, CA* – One of the biggest weekends of racing at the ASA sanctioned Silver Dollar Speedway takes place this Friday and Saturday night. On May 8, Feather Falls Casino point championship racing takes place with three divisions. The 410 sprints, dirt modifieds and wingless sprints will race during Fauver’s Race Ready Rentals night. Adding money to the mix is Fry’s Metal. During this night the 410 sprints will race for $2500 to win while the wingless get an extra $300 and the dirt modifieds get an extra $200 for their main event win.

Racing is set to begin at 7 pm. Sprint car qualifying will be the first agenda of the night. Front grandstand gate will open at 6 pm. Pit gate opens at 4 pm. Adult general admission into the main grandstand is $12.00. Juniors and seniors are $10.00 with children $5.00. After the racing action fans are invited to meet and greet their favorite drivers in the pit area.

The Dave Bradway Jr. Memorial has grown from a single race to the event of the year for the King of California Series. This race takes place on Saturday night, May 9 and features the best of the best when it comes to open-wheel 410-sprint car racing in California. The action packed night peaks when the 40-lap main event rolls onto the track. Dave and Dianne Durica raise all the individual lap money and prizes awarded at this race. Each lap has a $100 value with $50 to lead a lap, $30 for second and $20 for third. Silver Dollar Speedway is also adding $1,000 to the win. On any given night the King of California main event nets $3,000. Yet, with the extra money on the line, conceivably, if a driver leads all 40 laps that person could win $6,000.

Front grandstand gates open at 5pm. Sprint car qualifying is slated for 6:30 pm while Racing is scheduled for 7 pm. Adult general admission is $17.00 while juniors are $12.00 and kids are $5.00. There will be stickers available for the fans and a new Dave Bradway Jr. shirt for sale during this weekend.

The good folks at HoservilleCa are once again heavily involved with the program. They are offering a right rear tire and a sleeve of tear-offs to each heat race winner. The heat race winner will stop on the front stretch to conduct an interview and give a trophy away to young fans of the sport. The winners will also receive a plaque in place of the trophy that they handed out to a fan.

Fast Trak Wings have come on board this year as a big sponsor of the Bradway event. In all over $2500 of prizes and money will be awarded from Fast Trak Wings to the competitors on Saturday night’s race. Fast Trak Wings are a HRP supplier. Drivers finishing 4^th and back will receive an extra $30 in cash. Semi-main drivers finishing 4^th on back will receive $20 in cash. Other items include a HRP top wing to the winner of the main event, heat winners get a HRP nose wing and the hard luck award winners will receive a M & W Top Wing Tree Stand.

NMI Industrial Contractors is putting up $500 for fast time on Saturday night. Southern Pacific Farms is giving $500 to Hard Charger in the main event. Scribner Plastics is giving away 12 fuel jugs while Nor Cal Performance is offering a torsion bar stop to 5^th in B main.

Current point leader Tyler Walker of Los Angeles will show the way this Saturday night for the Golden State Sprint Cars. Walker has won three of the five main events this season. Yet, his lead over Chico’s Jonathan Allard is only six points. Allard is still looking to break into the win column. Campbell’s Brent Kaeding sits third in the point standings. His one win and consistent top five finishes place him only 11 points behind Walker. Rookie Kyle Larson sits in the fourth spot and has four top ten main event finishes. One point behind Larson is Grass Valley’s Jason Statler.

Evan Suggs comes into the race with the most fast times, three, and holds down the sixth spot. Up and coming Brandon Carey is seventh in points. All seven drivers have attended every race in 2009 so far. Bud Kaeding is in the eighth spot and is currently four-for-four in finishing top ten of the main events he has entered. Ken Fredenburg and Mike Stallings each are tied for ninth in the point standings.

Two out of town additions for this weekend include Knoxville, Iowa star Wayne Johnson driving the Harold and Janet Main owned #35a. Also coming out to race is former California resident now living in Indiana Brad Sweet. Sweet will pilot the Rod Tiner owned #83.

Local contingents will include Mason Moore driving the F&F Racing x1. Alan Bradway is involved with this team and has always wanted to win the race in his brother’s honor. Loomis driver Kyle Hirst won the previous Friday night main event at Chico and his middle name is David, named after Bradway Jr. Auburn’s Andy Forsberg has never won a Bradway Jr. Memorial and has dedicated his off-season with the goal of beating the best to win this event.

Racing For the Troops team of Bobby McMahan, Sean Becker and Kyle Harris all plan to be a factor in the outcome of this race. Roseville driver Colby Copeland and Chico’s Brad Bumgarner are each competitive at Silver Dollar Speedway and could be a dark horse come main event time on Saturday night.

It looks to be an incredible weekend of racing. We hope people are excited to bring back in good weather and enjoy good old fashion local dirt track racing at the Silver Dollar Speedway. For any other information concerning this event please call the track office at 916-969-7484.

It's rumored that Jason Solwold may be in the 83jr for both days.
