Saturday night at Perris Auto Speedway the pits were full and the excitement level was high. Thirty nine cars came to race in what was to surely be a great night of USAC/CRA Sprint Car Racing.
David Cardey decided he still had unfinished business from last months race at the PAS when his drive for the win came up about three feet short. With determination in his eyes David started the evening out by qualifying his iTi Performance Powered, Viper Chassis 5- Bar, Eibach Springs, Hoosier Tire, K&N Filters, Empire Plumbing, Circle Track Performance, and Racers Pub sprinter with 6th quick time.
Starting the heat race in the 4th row David moved toward the front to run down the leader in his heat race. Finishing a close second in the heat, David and the crew of his #38 sprinter began preparing the car for the main.
Starting the main in the third row inside David began to move forward at the drop of the green flag. Within a few laps David had moved into second and set sights on the leader. David drove past Josh Ford to take the lead only to have the yellow come out and place him back into second for the restart. At the drop of the green flag, David drove to the bottom in turn one and held his line to power off the corner to take the lead. David car was dominant to say the least. Opening a lead of almost a half of a lap, David set his sights on the victory. With 4 laps remaining, the yellow came out in turn four. This allowed Blake Miller to erase the huge lead David had. On the restart, David held his lead. With one lap to go David was passed on the back straight by Blake Miller for the lead. The white flag came out and David was running second, down the back straight and into turn three David took his Viper Chassis to the bottom and got back to the throttle to power his way to the lead and take the win.
This was David's second straight podium finish with his iTi Performance powered, Viper Chassis sprinter. The victory moved David into second place in the USAC/CRA points only 16 points out of first.
iTi Performance Motorsports would also like to congratulate Cory Kruseman for setting fast time in his iTi Performance Powered, Viper Chassis. This is the second weekend in a row for Cory setting fast time since taking delivery of his new 5-Bar Viper Chassis from iTi Performance Motorsports. Cory even after being involved in an accident was able to drive back to claim a 10th place finish.
Congratulations David, Cory and their teams on a great weekend of racing.

What really happened with 4 laps to go................................................
I believe you didn't clarify why the yellow flag came out with 4 laps to go. Cardey CAUSED the caution in turn 4 with car #84 and put the #84 car in the wall. So, CARDEY allowed Blake Miller to erase the lead he had on him. Cardey definitely jeopardised his 1st place win with that caution. But it made the race after that more exciting to watch! Cardey got pretty lucky that Blake Miller didn't take the win!

I couldn't agree with you more! Miller deserved to win the race with his awesome driving, especially in the last couple laps!

Yeah, right! Spoken like somebody who's never driven a lap in a race car. Look at the tape. Oh yeah, he really intended to get tangled up with him. He was clean under him, would have been a clean pass but he lost the front end and it washed up the track. Ever heard of a "racing incident"? Cut these guys a little slack! If you think it's so easy, YOU get out there and try it sometime!

I don't think Cardey intentionally caused the incident and I understand that things happen and that's racing, but when a comment is made after the race by a certain individual that #84 was in #38's way and trying to race him instead of letting him pass is a little over the top. The video shows exactly what you stated Cardey lost the front end and it washed up the track. I just personally think that there needed to be some clarification of how the caution came out with 4 laps to go, which could have costed him the win. And it's hard to give people slack when they clearly don't believe that #84 left the #38 enough room to pass under him and that the pass could have been done cleanly without incident.

Not trying to find fault or place blame on anybody but...... First off, there are no mirrors in these cars. The 84 car had no way of knowing who was coming up on him until the 38 was up alongside him and by then it's too late in the middle of a corner. It ain't like driving a stock car on pavement, you can't just adjust your line once you're committed. You've got the car sideways and driving off the right rear, if you try to alter your line by getting out of the throttle 9 times out of 10 the car is gonna do something REALLY evil. Add the fatigue factor of 30 laps of hard racing........like I said, if it was as easy as these guys make it look ANYBODY could do it, right?
