NWWT drivers racing Saturday at the Grove by Andrew Kunas
APRIL 24, 2009 --- When the NorthWest Wingless Tour kicks off its 2009 season Saturday with the Grove Classic at Cottage Grove Speedway, a variety of drivers and cars will be on hand to compete, and many will be following the NWWT in its entire inaugural season.
Here are some of the sprint cars teams who will be competing Saturday at Cottage Grove and throughout the 2009 NorthWest Wingless Tour season.

69 - Joe Bosso Jr. Troutdale, Oregon
Car owner: Joe Bosso Sr. Motor: S&J Chassis: Gambler Sponsors include: Western Aircraft Propeller Service, Bud's Auto Wrecking, John's Frame Shop
Joe has been racing in sprint cars for a few years now. He finished 2nd at Willamette Speedway's open non-wing sprint car event last September to many-time sprint car champion Roger Crockett.

7 - Dylan Olson Kelso, Washington
Car owner: Scott Olson Motor: Chevy Chassis: TCR Sponsors include: AC Nutter Eginers, Shock Shop
Dylan Olson, only 18 years old, is new to sprint car racing after four years in motorcycles. He is also a two-time national champion in 1/4-midgets.

Mark Herz is in his second year racing sprint cars after spending time in go-karts.

Roy Crouch is a three-year sprint car veteran and former main event winner. He also raced motorcyles for 25 years.

30 Gary Davis Albany, Oregon
Owner: Bob Farwell Motor: Chevy Chassis: XXX Sponsors include: Lone Oak Tavern - Salem, Advantage Powder Coating, Brian Crockett Motorsports, Automotive Sheet Metal
Davis is a multi-time main event winner and was last year's USCA champion. His car owner Bob Farwell is also the new owner of Cottage Grove Speedway.

22 - Mike Romig Vancouver, Washington
Owner: Same Motor: Raybourn Chevy Chassis: Eagle Sponsors include: Still looking
Mike Romig was a second generation go-kart racer. He then moved into Pro-4 modifieds in 2007 and won a championship in 2008. He was convinced by his friends to get into a sprint car and he did so, running a limited schedule last year and winning a few heat races.

The pit gate at Cottage Grove Speedway opens at 3:00 with spectator gates opening at 4:00. Qualifying is scheduled for 5:30, followed by racing around 6:45. More information on the NorthWest Wingless Tour can be found online at http://www.nwwingless.com.
