Tiner Snags Second Win Of the Year

By Gary Costa

Petaluma, Ca. - Hanford, Ca (April 11 & 18, 2009) – Fresno's Steve Tiner pulled into victory lane at Kings Speedway last Saturday night in his Tiner Motorsports No. 94.

However, the previous weekend, April 11th at Petaluma's 3/8-mile dirt track, Steven would flex his muscles in Round #3 in the Winged California 360 Sprint Car Civil War Series. He qualified seventh out of the 37-car field turning a 13.239 lap.

In Heat #2, Tiner would start the race in the fifth starting spot. Unfortunately, during the race, a car bicycled in front of him, and caught a piece of the action and tumbled. Surprisingly there was little damage to BR Motorsports, VMAC Racing, No. 94. Tiner was able to push off and tag the tail of the field. Amazingly with bent wings, he would finish in the fifth spot, just one spot short of the transfer into the main event.

"It was a weird flip," Tiner said. "The car went up pretty high in the air, but nothing was bent but the wings."

Tiner was on the hammer in the semi from his fourth starting spot. With only 6 cars being taken out of the semi, and a full field of cars, he had to secure his spot for the feature event. Tiner solidly brought the car across the line in the second spot.

For the 30-lap feature, Tiner would slide into his seventh place position on the grid. When the green came out, Tiner immediately raised his elbows. When the checkered flag flew, Tiner raced under it in the sixth position.

"We had a great night," he said. "Not too bad considering how our night kicked off."

Last Saturday, Tiner was off to Hanford, looking to back up his Rebel 360 win that came at the track on April 4th. Tiner finished second in Heat 2. He then went on to capture his second feature win in the 25-lap event.

"I wish there were more cars, but it always feels good to score a win. Tommy Tarlton and Craig Stidham were here, and they both have really good cars and are top-notch drivers."

Up Next for Tiner Motorsports! April 25th and May 2nd, you will be able to catch Steve Tiner at Placerville Speedway. Steven will prepare for the upcoming "Tribute to Al Hinds" California Sprint Car Civil War race.

Would Steven be any relation to the Tiner family in the Sacramento, Ca. area?

I've never seen that type of sheet metal on the hood of a sprint car before. Is that for an air-filter on a carburator. Especially that bottom picture---weird California 360 deal?

Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

Yes, Steven is part of the Tiner family from the Rio Linda area. I believe he is Rich Tiners son. Rich is Rod and Randys brother.
