Wings looked like they came off the Work N Woody. Enough room under the wing for the driver to crawl out thru the top. Nice race though, but for the wings, didn't look much different than today.
Adding $6 trillion of debt in his 1st term and now if
elected again he wouldn't have to worry about an
electorate in 2016 so the sky is the limit. And his EPA
would continue to put the screws to oil drilling and
mining for coal. Can you say bankruptcy.

I'd say Gurney was a bit tight in that video.
I supported Baylands from start to end. Spent many nights freezing my nads off in Turn 1. Brings back memories.
Lealand would come up and run semi-regular in Jim Reed's beautiful car. They go on and on.

Just curious as to what equipment you shot with? In 1983 video was in it's infancy. I believe that was the year that Sony introduced the "Betamovie" the very first "camcorder"
I remember lugging around a bulky 2 piece camera, recording deck deal. What a pain, of coarse we didn't know that then!
Very cool, thanks for posting.

Yes Jeff thats the one the bulky 2 piece system. It was my first video camera it was a panasonic system model wvp100n the camera was close to two feet long itself !!
then the separate vhs recording deck got it duty free on our trip over there in '83 . Baylands was my 1st attempt at video taping racing

I wish you'd get some of Sid Hopping's stuff converted.
If I ever get back over and make it to Sid's house I'll be planting my ass in a chair and demanding to watch some of his home movies................

One hell of a heat race there. Vodden calls McSpadden, Gurney, 72 Scott Murray, (can't figure the 6? 5? outside second row), Jimmy Boyd and Tim Green.

My mistake. I just assumed it was McSpadden.
Anyone remember him wadding the 01 up on the front straight at Calistoga? Serious, serious crash that Lealand walked away from.
Also, '83 was the year that Gurney won about 1000 main events for Quentin Bammer. He won everywhere he went. He was having a hell of a run v. the Outlaws as well at Baylands before going up in a cloud of smoke, detonating a motor in the main event. Again, this was '83 and I was 13. I could be wrong. Childhood heroes last awhile in the memory banks though.

Sills just about always wore a white helmet and Lealand wore a black one.
I remember the Lealand crash at Stoga. That was his last time in that car.
Ah...Sills won a lot of races in the 01 car.
