WEEK OFF FOR WESTERN MIDGETS; MADERA NEXT APRIL 25;
MITCHELL GETS SERIES WIN #2 ON FINAL LAP AT VENTURA!
Garrett Hansen continues to lead the USAC Western Midget Series points after finishing fourth in Saturday night's race at Ventura (Calif.) Raceway. He takes a comfortable 127-point lead over Josh ford into an April 25 race at the Madera (Calif.) Speedway. Ford was 10th at Ventura.
Matt Mitchell of Yorba Linda, Calif. earned his second career USAC Western Midget feature victory at Ventura, leading the final lap to take the 30-lap race. He passed Kody Swanson on the last lap in his Mancha Realtors/Sierra Water Spike/Esslinger Ford and held off Swanson for the win. Cory Kruseman took third ahead of Hansen and Shannon McQueen. Ford led the first 23 laps, Kruseman led one lap, then Swanson led the next five before yielding to Mitchell.
