I-80 Speedway
Greenwood, NE

44 cars

Heat one (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Mike Chadd 4c (2*) 2. Johnn Cressman 56 (1) 3. Lou Kennedy Jr. 21K (4) 4. Ryan Roberts 18 (5) 5. Mitch Runge 28 (7) 6. Thomas Kennedy 20K (8) 7. Danielle Ossenfort 10 (6) 8. Bryan Gossel 6G (9) 9. Jack Dover 24A (3)

Dover went up in smoke on lap two while running third. Gossel exited on lap four. The track was in a heavy state and most heats saw little passing.

Heat two (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Don Droud Jr. 2 (2*) 2. Shawn Van Wyhe 99VW (3*) 3. Billy Alley 22 (5*) 4. Brian Brown 21 (7) 5. Josh Riggins 4+ (1) 6. Trevor Grossenbacher 35ab (6) 7. Jeff Heffner 14 (8) 8. Adrian Wagner 9w (9) DNS - Bobby Becker Jr. 8B (4)

Alley had to work to get by Riggins to gain third. Brown followed suit. Droud led the 8-lap distance.

Heat three (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Mike Boston 51 (1*) 2. Austin McCarl 17A (3*) 3. Gregg Bakker 11x (5) 4. Jason Danley 82 (6) 5. Lee Grosz 4J (7) 6. Gage Dorr (2) 7. Jacob Ossenfort 99 (4) 8. Brant O'Banion 47 (9) 9. Bryan Dobesh 10B (8)

Boston led flag to flag.

Heat four (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Ryan Bickett 17B (2*) 2. Dusty Zomer 99JR (6*) 3. Wade Nygaard 9N (8*) 4. Chad Humston 1m (5) 5. Dylan Peterson 25 (1) 6. John Klabunde 77 (7) 7. Robby Wolfgang 1a (3) 8. Roger Sundquist 7 (9) DNS - Adam Gullion 99KX (4)

Gullion crashed into the turn four wall after contact with Cressman in hot laps, ending his night. Wolfgang dropped out with two to go. Bickett led throughout, as Zomer and Nygaard were the prime movers.

Heat five (started, *qualified for feature): 1. Eric Lutz 5 (2*) 2. Jonathan Cornell 28c (3*) 3. Jody Rosenboom 27 (4) 4. Ryan Anderson 71R (8) 5. Steven Richardson 72 (6) 6. Chris Morgan 7K (5) 7. Nick Clifford 99c (7) 8. Chuck Swenson X (1)

Swenson's motor went up in smoke while running second on lap six. Lutz led the duration.

B main one (started): 1. Rosenboom (3) 2. Bakker (1) 3. Roberts (4) 4. Clifford (10) / 5. Richardson (6) 6. Grossenbacher (9) 7. O'Banion (12) 8. Sundquist (14) 9. Klabunde (7) 10. Runge (5) 11. Peterson (8) 12. Cressmann (2) 13. Heffner (11) 14. Wolfgang (13) DNS - Swenson, Becker

Wolfgang and Heffner contacted in turn one, with Wolfgang getting upside down. Both were done, but uninjured. Cressman ran second on lap four, when his motor went up in smoke. Bakker led until two to go, when Rosenboom found his way around. A late restart gave Clifford the chance to grab the last transfer from Richardson.

B main two (started): 1. Brown (1) 2. L. Kennedy (2) 3. Humston (4) 4. Danley (3) / 5. Grosz (5) 6. Morgan (8) 7. T. Kennedy (6) 8. Riggins (7) 9. J. Ossenfort (12) 10. D. Ossenfort (10) 11. Dorr (9) 12. Wagner (11) 13. Dobesh (13) DNS - Gossel, Dover, Gullion

Brown led throughout, but Kennedy was never far behind. Dobesh retired with what appeared to be motor problems on lap three.

A main (started): 1. Alley (12) 2. Brown (14) 3. Chadd (1) 4. Zomer (5) 5. Nygaard (4) 6. Cornell (11) 7. Boston (2) 8. Lutz (6) 9. Droud Jr. (3) 10. Danley (20) 11. Rosenboom (13) 12. Anderson (8) 13. L. Kennedy (16) 14. Roberts (17) 15. Clifford (19) 16. McCarl (10) 17. Bickett (7) 18. Bakker (15) 19. Van Wyhe (9) 20. Humston (18)

Chadd took the early lead over Boston. Back in the pack, Alley was moving forward quickly and was fifth by the third lap. By lap nine, he had caught Chadd and took the lead. Setting a scorching pace, he diced through lapped traffic on the fast surface. Brown was in pursuit, but at a bit slower pace. By lap fifteen, he was second. The 25-lapper went non-stop, and Alley won by a 1/4 of a lap over Brown, who had another 1/4 of a lap on Chadd. Alley lapped all but the top five for the $1,500 win (paid in $2 bills).

Non-stop race, coming from 12th for the win... AND lapping up to 5th.. what more can you say than WOW.

That is damn impressive from the 1st night out from Billy Alley Enterprises, Inc. Eyes are definitely opened up this way from that performance.. just wish I was there.

Good show....Alley and Brown put on a clinic. Alley definately had them all covered last night. He could do whatever he wanted to do with is car and handled lapped traffic like a veteran. Brown did about the same thing (he started directly behind Alley) but just a tick off the pace. Tonight should be even better.

Thanks for the report Bill W from us Iowans! Congratulations to Billy, Buns and the the 22 team. Not really surprised though. Billy and Buns click well together. Probably will be another Brown/Alley battle tonight. They are both very good racers. Good car count too!

Zomer is in a second Van Wyhe car. He will be running that car for 10-12 races throughout the year.

11 qualified from the heats, ( 1 from 1st, 3 from 2nd, 2 from 3rd, 3 from 4th and 2 from 5th) 4 from each B = 19 but 20 started the A

What am I missing hear? I'm too tired to go through the results and see where the 20th qualifier came from.

Sorry, note the time I posted this. No wonder Ryan thinks I have it out for him... LOL
