From a fan perspective...

I realize packing is a royal pain for ya'll. I helped scrape a hundred pounds of goo off a car last year a few times. But when I'm a fan in the stands, this is the slow parade. This is when we're getting the car numbers and who's there in our head. We check out your new sheet metal and changes in how your car looks. It's also the only time you're going slow enough to read your sponsors. Yep, the wife and I read those and support them when we can. When you're low and slow during a yellow or something we're watching the lineup and car numbers, not reading sponsor stickers. As for strapping on a car and being a scared girl, well, don't tell Holly Williams and Andrea Hallsted. They don't seem to darn skeered to me Smile

Yeah I'm the guy guy who doesn't own a car that can get to the chili bowl. Actually got a chance to drive a non wing modified back in the day on the old quarter mile. I kinda know what it's like, didn't go near as fast as todays super sprints. I was just jackin ya back, the way you jack people around on here sometimes ya know. Good fun. Not serious.

Does anyone know of a car for sale that will make it to Tulsa and back? Nah, I'm doin alright. Must be someone else.

Hell I always made my few laps, so I really never knew if they actually did that or not. I believe I remember Ramer tellin me they docked him once for not makin a few laps. They said pack the track I ran at the top to get the least abit of mud on my car. I didnt like doing it, but it didnt bother me. No reason to even run hot laps if the tracked is not packed in. When its not packed in, it always makes for a rough track tearing up more crap.

The thing that makes me so mad is the guy that goes out to pack and runs around on the top that has already been packed so he gets no mud on his car What is the point you are doing no good all you are doing is using up good racetrack.

I have an idea lets weigh the cars before packing and after and give a $100 to the car that gaines the most weight that will get some guys in the mud.

I know at Meeker we will average scraping 200lb of the car after packing. I know there are some cars that run Meeker and dont even own a mud scrapper becouse they never get in the mud.

You guys bring up some great points on this subject. The question is what method of "punishment" would drivers actually support for not packing?? If we say "No Pack No Race", how many drivers would actually stand behind a promoter that did this??? And should there be a minimum number of laps??? And a rule that the car must keep at least two wheels in the mud???? And a rule that it is the tracks discretion whether you did or did not keep two wheels in the mud???

You make a good point about the ones that stay at the top so they dont get to much mud on there cars. Here at Enid when we nedded help and had the cars come out we had officials all around the track to keep them drivers down. The next thing you know you have drivers running over your toes or come very close to. I saw someone get there toes ran over last year. I think it is pissed offss drivers that don't want to get to much mud on there cars and dont care who they hurt because they are mad. When they do that the promoters pulls them in and say if you want to race on it like this here you are. One or two drivers screw it up for the rest.

At BMS there is already the policy of "No pack, No race" and 25 points for packing the track. A minimum nuber of laps isn't a bad idea. I count my laps when I'm out and stay out for at least 8-10 laps unless waved in before then.

As far as a rule requiring 2 wheels in the mud, that wont work unless you pack by class. There are some classes/drivers who like to diddle around at 5 mph while other classes can't go that slowly because of gearing and idle rpm's.

Personally, I say make it a manditory 8-10 laps and forget the 25 points for doing something you're supposed to do anyways. AND ENFORCE IT. After a time or two of not being able to hotlap, race, or having to start at the back..... the primadona's will get the idea.
